Wisconsin State Employees Union Circulating Boycott Letters
Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel ^ | March 30, 2011 | Don Walker

Members of Wisconsin State Employees Union, AFSCME Council 24, have begun circulating letters to businesses in southeast Wisconsin, asking them to support workers’ rights by putting up a sign in their windows.

If businesses fail to comply, the letter says, “Failure to do so will leave us no choice but (to) do a public boycott of your business. And sorry, neutral means 'no' to those who work for the largest employer in the area and are union members."

Jim Parrett, a field representative of Council 24 for Southeast Wisconsin, confirmed the contents of the letter, which carries his signature. But he added that the union was also circulating letters to businesses thanking them for supporting workers’ rights.

Parrett said that since the letters were sent out, he has received threatening phone calls as well as calls from people supporting the state workers.

Sounds like extortion and a RICO violation to me.

Lets see how the voters in the judge election respond to outright extortion. Is this the kind of future they want?

LOL. Union workers shopping at WalMart are going to understand what Mormons in the liquor store go through. It’s okay, there’s another one twenty miles away. Oops, that’s exactly the thought the neighbors had... Well hello Julie. What are you doing here? Heh.

Also, as government employees many/most took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. This, IMHO, violates the Commerce Clause. Through their butts in jail.

...asking them to support workers’ rights [sic] by putting up a sign in their windows.

Oh, good. Now, when I see such a sign, I can pull up in front of it, get out of my truck, do a highly theatrical double-take at the sign, and leave. A fun little addition to the daily routine.

Looks like the unions are pretty thoroughly doing themselves in as far as public opinion is concerned. Keep it up, thugs! And good riddance to you!

How many of the now larger paychecks it will take before Joe Average decides the money he never even SAW before is way too much, and quits sending it in like he has to do now?

In light of what has happened, how much good did that damn union do him with all the money they pinched in the past?

If it looks like a duck.....

If this a not a clear RICO preosecution case, what is?
Who has standing to make the charge?

Can the businesses subject to extortion file a class action suit?
That's a serious question!

Yes, and just think of how many of them are in lawenforcment. If they'll blackmail business owners they'll fake evidence.

It would take a public prosecutor to take such a case to court. Individuals could file complaints but an indictment would have to come from States Attorney, City Attorney, County prosecutor or the federal Attorney for that district.
