People are on edge. A lot of towns are not making things any easier by having law enforcement stopping them for any excuse to fine them due to budget shortages. I'm watching it happen in my town.

The libertine cop-haters who parrot liberal talking points don’t help either.

The suspect is reportedly armed with a rifle, shooting at the officers from the mountains. Police are currently searching for the man. He is armed and dangerous.

Some times you need to check your premise.

Ah, such clever posts.

No jury in the world is going to give you any slack just because the cop busted your door down.

So where you might be morally and ethically right in shooting him, it will not be ruled self defense in the courts.

But it will not matter because the dozen cops behind him will make a trial unnecessary.

Sad but true.

The place to beat them is in the legislature and in the courts.

We need to get our legislatures to forbid the practice.

Well, yea. Still don't know what this was about. Probably a bad actor. Still, all the players are suspect until more is known.

It doesn’t even matter if you do get the legislature to change things.

From my experience police chiefs will establish “policies” - ruled illegal or not - and they will do them until they have to resign or are arrested themselves.

Now all they care about is the safety of their officers. Safety of citizenry is not the priority. Second is protecting union rights. Third is collecting fees for local revenue gap filling.

A jury acquitted eleven Branch Davidians of murder based on self-defense.

Randy Weaver and Kevin Harris, too.

“Revenue source” from escalating numbers and amounts of traffic fines, while criminals run rampant; increasingly lax attention to serving and protecting; and now, on top of that, we have the extortion letter to a corporate Republican donor signed by the heads of three LEO organizations in Madison, exposing their thugishness and their dwindling “public servant” mindset.

I don’t think they ought to be gunned down, but I can understand if fewer and fewer people lose sleep over it. They want our respect, they’re going to have to earn it back.

And statistically, the morbidity and mortality from job-realated incidents among mental health workers is higher than for LEOs or the military. Of course, no one cares about that - no media attention, no government propaganda, no fancy uniforms, no heroic mission statements, no reality shows. Some animals are more equal than others.

And those were high-profile cases that had the entire weight of the DoJ looking for convictions.

Another update: I just heard that one of the deputies was in fact a close high school friend of mine. The rumor mill is swirling, but apparently the shootings were instigated over a stupid repossessed car.

Also, the perpetrator has been killed by SWAT.

I’m glad they got the perp. The rest of the story is terrible. I hope the other two deputies will be alright.

Thank you for keeping us posted. I am sorry for your loss.

My prayers go out for our fallen LEO’s, the wounded and their families.

I am glad SWAT killed the worthless bastard.... I wonder what his FReeper name was?
