Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) may have the support of Maine's Tea Party-backed governor in her reelection bid, but she could still be in for a tough primary battle next year.
New numbers from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP) show 58 percent of Maine Republicans prefer a generic "more conservative" alternative to Snowe in 2012. And just 33 percent of Maine Republicans said they will support her.
According to the poll, 58 percent of Republicans in the state think Snowe is too liberal, while another 33 percent don't even think she belongs in the GOP, saying she should be a Democrat.

I agree that she should be a Democrat. She has been the fly in our ointment to many times. I sincerely hope she is replaced. She should be expecting it. I only wish we didn’t have so long to wait to get rid of some of the other RINOs.
“too many times” (slapping self on wrist)
The time to get rid of her is during a primary. After that, it’s too late. Vote straight Republican.
I hope Gov LePage sticks to state business and lets the primary process proceed with minimal involvement on his part. Snowe will end up being another Specter, Crist, etc. Rove will support her, she’ll lose the primary and jump to independent status.
YellowSnowe, Lugar and my personal fav, Brown-stain.
May they all be cast out in 2012.
“The Conservative Governor supports Snowe because of a friendship with her late husband.”
Yep. She’s a casket rider, just like the Kennedys.
This is a bad sign for Snowe, but there is no such thing as a generic candidate.
Dump Snowe!
She is a pitiful case for a Congressperson.
It's never too late to vote against a liberal statist like Snowe!
And don't give me that RINO pap about how we need to vote for liberal Republicans because the liberal Democrats are "worse" (i.e., just not Republican - otherwise there is little difference).
If she loses the primary she’ll probably pull a Murkowski if Maine allows it. She’ll endorse the rat if it doesn’t.
She’s the most liberal “Republican” in Congress far worse than many that get called “RINO”. I don’t support her reelection, period.
I 100% agree. She thinks she’s entitled to that seat, a la the Kennedys.
I agree. Get rid of her in a primary.
We're making great strides and this is the mechanism we must use to get the government we want.
Thanks Impy.
