It’s a crime of passion only to the extent that murdering young girls in cold blood is this guy’s passion.

I guess in a sense it’s a valid argument since it seems VDS has a passion for killing young women.

Whatever jail time he gets for this, he’s facing a much worse fate in the future. I wouldn’t be him for anything.

Van der Sloot lawyer argues "crime of passion"

If someone were to kill this bastard in prison, maybe they will be able to claim the same- 'a crime of passion'?

Another thing, how could any lawyer even think to represent this scum?

Prosecuters are asking only 30 years? That’s not nearly long enough.

After Joran’s attempted escape and the assault of a guard I think it’s safe to say he’s not getting off with 5 years.

When he’s convicted and serving his prison term he’ll be a celebrity for not only murdering a young Peruvian woman but for attacking that guard. He may well not serve out his entire sentence or even close to it.

his client should face no more than three to five years.

Ha! His lawyer ought to get three to five just for suggesting that.

I laugh at all the self-masturbatory drama. Just try and execute the slug already!!!! Executions of proven murderers used to be a lot swifter and straight forward

These days we have all this charade instead of swift justice for the victims

I wonder how he’s enjoying Peruvian prison life? Bit of a change from before, I’d imagine.

So he did do it didn’t he.

Crime of passion?

How about a death penalty with passion then.

This guy is a psycho serial killer. He needs to be kept in Peru permanently. A good place for him.

Read the comments below this article. Isn’t this one the truth?

“There is an innocent woman alive right now who will die in 20 months when he is out.”

responsibility is it to provide a Dutch-Spanish translator

Why does he need a translator? He knows the language. He spoke to them in the Peruvian language when he was being interrogated.
