The specific quote from Maddow -- "I don't think I always fit the caricature of a liberal." Not surprisingly, Maddow cited no evidence (Snip)Begs the question -- how would you know the "caricature of a liberal" if you saw one?

Sure. When one thinks of a liberal woman, who would ever conjure up a snide, condescending, California-born lesbian who now lives in Manhattan with her artist partner.

It might be true. SHE might be too far to the left for your average liberal.
Hah, if I didn’t already have proof otherwise I would assume that Maddow was simply a parody made to make the left look bad.
I find women who are out as lesbians to be lacking in the mental capacity to be truly professional. I had a female supervisor a few years ago who was out and was blatantly favorable toward the women on our team. Contrast that to a female manager I had recently who was single but very heterosexual: she was incredibly professional, forthright, honest, easy to work with and understand, and she genuinely listened.
I find now in graduate school that female professors who are questionable in their sexuality but generally closeted to be easier to approach even if they favor the women in the class whereas the one out lesbian teacher I have worked with was over-the-top bigoted toward men going so far as to call one combative male classmate a rapist in front of the whole class.
I cannot take Maddow seriously, and any woman who destroys her feminine features in order to espouse womanhood is a walking contradiction.
Was the quote perhaps truncated?
