"'Becoming a grandmother at 29 is my worst nightmare' says mum after discovering her 14-year-old daughter is pregnant"
A woman who is set to become Britain's youngest grandmother at 29 said it was 'her worst nightmare' when she discovered her 14-year-old daughter was pregnant.
Kelly John said she always hoped Tia would not repeat her mistake and become pregnant at 14.
But after getting over the shock, the grandmother-to-be has vowed to do 'everything' to bring up the new baby.

Do the math. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
I’m beginning to be all the more thankful I went through school during the eighties and wasn’t exposed to this stuff as a normal thing. PIty the mother didn’t stay married to the father.
Gosh, and here I am, not a grandmother at 44. You can’t just “hope,” lady: you have to raise your daughter to value chastity. If you don’t, she won’t.
No kidding - I bet her mother said the same thing!
Well, at least the mum didn’t shuffle her off to Marie Stopes for an abortion. And the mother/grandmother seems to fear that her daughter is in for a struggle, which is a good thing. At least she’s in touch with reality. Prayers for them that they get their own dysfunctional lives straightened out & do right by the baby.
Out of 6 generations, wonder how many are on the dole? At least it says the GM-to-be has a job. But she’s also got a good chance of being a great-grandmother in her 40s.
I certainly hope everything works out well for them. But one thing both of them might consider doing is finding a husband.
Although I guess, from what I’ve read, British men aren’t the marrying kind anymore, now that the welfare state does their job and leaves them free to sleep around and impregnate anything that stands still long enough.
In many situations like this, one could propose that they consider adoption, in the best interest of the child. But in Britain, adoption placements favor singles, unmarried couples, and gays, so how would that help?
A simple aspirin could have prevented this.
All she had to do was put it between her knees and held it there - till she was 20 or so...
NOT!!!! - I REPEAT NOT!!! - MY PROBLEM!!!!!
I’m sick of two things:
All the angst people are constantly trying to heap on me because of other people’s mistakes and
Flo, the broad that sells insurance, because I’m convinced she’s the anti-Christ and is from the netherworld...
;-)
And I thought the brits only used the "missionary position".
At least it’s not a future Johnny Jihad. Lets hear it for a +1 in the Anglo-Saxon column.
/s sorta
FROM THE ARTICLE: Kelly John said she always hoped Tia would not repeat her mistake and become pregnant at 14.
But she "hoped" her daughter wouldn't get pregnant as a teen. That's like "hoping" you can jump off a building without hitting the ground.
“...this is actually happening more and more in Britain.”
Are you kidding? Looked at any major US city lately? Or not even lately. In 1984 I was checking out of a DC hospital, after giving birth to twins. A group rushed past me to the parking lot. On the return of just a nurse and aide, I heard the nurse say “the mother is 13, so the grandmother will raise him.”
“Him” would now be 27 and may well be on his way to becoming a grandfather, if he’s survived the streets. You can ‘hope’ not, but the odds are against him, and were from the day he was born.
HEY!
At least she waited until she was 14.
Wonder what other families in that town are as 'prolific'!
Just following her mum’s example.
Place that behind your left knee and hold it in place with the front of your right knee.
Hand out some to your kids.
