That’s liberalism. The fix is in. Either you are connected, or you are screwed.

The users of GPS constitute most of the upper crust int he US. This is not going to happen, unless Obama wishes to receive no votes at all in 2012

When people wake up one day and their dash GPS can’t tell them when to turn right, will they know why?

The haste may be related to surprising laboratory test results from the world’s top manufacturer of navigational gizmos, Garmin Ltd. The company’s engineers found that popular consumer GPS units started experiencing dropouts when approaching within 3.6 miles of a LightSquared transmitter. A commonly used aircraft navigation unit completely lost its fix within 5.6 miles.

I hope the first air crash due to a blocked signal takes LightSquared into bankruptcy.

If I read this correctly, the product interfers with aviation and military GPS. Aviation is bad - we’re talking crashes. Military is worse - degrading military effectiveness. All so Obama to pay back a crony.

Obama really is a traitorous POS.

This will never stand. The corruption and abusive regulations are piling up against Barry and his team of tyrants. What a great answer to all the charm, the toothy smile and high flying oratory which will soon be engaged as Obama begins again to smarmy the youth vote as his stooge army to get out the vote. This can’t work.

Really? you can’t be serious.
GPS runs on nearly everything now. Commerical trucking, shipping, airline, rail traffic, land surveying, the list is endless. You are thinking of the bone heads who have a little dash thingy in their car to get them to work over a path they have already traveled 1000 times.
The last units we bought were $20k+ each

Hold on for a tick. The GODDAMNED FCC is so busy trying to regulate the internet, that they couldn't figure out, or even listen to those who had figured it out, that Military, civilian, and aviation GPS will be wiped out?

WHAT.

THE.

*UCK.

Liberalism was never for the “people”. It has always been just another criminal organization.

I’ve been following the Lightsquared story, mostly because I’m middle-to-last mile and have received a hard lesson on the world of wireless internet. When you don’t have a landline provider and depend on an aircard, you learn *very* fast.

I’m always hopeful the private sector will come through with a decent solution (please don’t mention satellite. It’s not broadband), but they’ve been dragging their feet in favor of quick profit cities for the hottest and fastest tech. And I understand that. But as more and more educational and commercial resources go web-only, the problem is getting very serious.

Honestly, I hope they get this signal issue resolved. I’m in favor of the Pentegon and GPS customers first, but maybe there’s another solution in the works.

Interesting considering the TOTUS's reliance on screens that provide instruction/direction.

Where have you been living? GPS road navigation units are almost as common as cell phones.

I wouldn't say that. I see the hood rats driving beat up Escalades with spinners using GPS units.
