If you know any woman currently undergoing chemotherapy, please pass tdhe word to her that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning - once per month for 4 months while she is in treatment. All she has to do is sign up and have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service in her zip code area arrange for the service. This organization serves the entire USA and currently has 547 partners to help these women. It's our job to pass the word and let them know that there are people out there that care. Be a blessing to someone and pass this information along.
You may not know someone going through chemo, but someone on your email list might. Please forward!
A lovely and worthwhile thought, Thank you.
Why only Cancer patients? ... just out of curiousity
Thank you so very much for this!
I have a friend who has been fighting breast cancer for quite some time. In general, her trajectory has been upwards. For a while, it seemed it was gone, but then it made an unhappy reappearance.
She has been doing a great job of balancing her therapy with getting her day to day work done and is the least self-pitying person on the planet.
I passed this info along to her and truly hope it helps.
I know that prostate cancer kills more men, per capita, than breast cancer kills women, but I really don’t want the latter to take my friend.
Another thread, another time, we can take up the issue of the silent cancer male sufferer.

I agree with the sentiment Great Project.
Why only WOMEN? ... just out of curiousity
What a nice service, and what a kindness for you to pass on the information. Thank you & bless you!
My guess would be that 1). Chemotherapy knocks the immune system down a lot, so they are offering to do it because a dirty house could be a real danger to a chemo patient.
And 2). Women are usually the ones who clean house, so when the one who cleans can’t, replacing her for a short while makes a certain sort of sense.
Or maybe it’s because the people cleaning have been touched by woman-dominant cancers. Of the charities I donate to, one of them is related to breast cancer, which is a women-dominant cancer (though men can and do get it). It seems to bother some that campaigns focus so much on women, but I’m not going to apologize for it. Breast cancer has taken too many of my friends, associates and family members.
What a wonderful idea! Some women have friends who arrange meals for the family on a regular basis, but they’d hesitate to come into the home to clean it. Having a service to do this would be a real blessing, even if only once a month.
Good luck trying to get someone to help you. We tried to get them to help last year and were out of luck. We live in the Atlanta area and no one would help us. All we got in a response. Try again next month and see if you can get your name on a list.
Obviously the demand is greater than the people to staff the project. Perhaps you could volunteer your time to help.
I do volunteer work.
While my wife was going through chemo, I was also taking care of two you boys and trying to maintain order in the house. One of my sons did not want to go to school after she would take one of her ‘hits’ because he was afraid that his Mom would die while he was at school.
I remember when my Mom was going through cancer treatment the first time.... I just about went out of my mind cleaning my house/her house, my food shopping/her food shopping, my cooking/her cooking plus taking care of a toddler. Chemo simply robs the body of so much energy. I remember her saying that getting off the couch to use the restroom winded and exhausted her. Sounds like a wonderful service to help people.
Ask them, I’m just the messenger.
They are a charitable volunteer group. One would think they help who they want to, for their own reasons. Are you suggesting that they be required to do otherwise?
