So tell us again how granting the President line-item veto power via proper Constitutional channels is a bad thing. The next GOP president would have it as well, and it would go a long ways to being able to curtail nonsense if used well.

During the Reagan years, Republicans routinely called for the line item veto for Reagan because democraps would lard up bills or put items in bills that did not belong. They liked the idea so much the Republicans passed law giving Klinton line item veto power in the 90's.
However, the line item veto was struck down by the Supreme Court, due to the work of hard core leftists who liked larding up bills and sneaking in legislation under the umbrella of other names.
