GOProud Announces CPAC “Big Party” With Andrew Breitbart
GOProud ^ | Feb 3, 2011 | Jimmy LaSalvia

Posted on 02/03/2011 11:45:41 AM PST by DesertRenegade

Today, GOProud, the only national organization representing gay conservatives and their allies, announced plans to hold a party with conservative media mogul Andrew Breitbart on Thursday February 10th during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). “The Big Party will celebrate GOProud and the growth of a conservative movement that is focused on getting the government out of people’s lives,” said Jimmy LaSalvia, Executive Director of GOProud. “We are thrilled to have Andrew Breitbart join us in putting together what will be the party of the CPAC weekend.”

“This party will highlight the story the main stream media has missed in the weeks leading up to CPAC, namely that the vast majority of the conservative movement is united and welcomes GOProud and any other conservative into the fold,” said Andrew Breitbart, a member of GOProud’s Advisory Council. “The truth is that it is liberals in America who are bent on dividing people, on forcing people into ideological boxes based merely on their race, religion, sex or sexual orientation.”

The invitation only event will be headlined by Grammy Award nominated singer/songwriter Sophie B. Hawkins, and will be held from 9 PM to Midnight at the 18th Street Lounge in Washington, D.C. The event sponsors include Paul E. Singer, Competitive Enterprise Institute, Poker Players Alliance, Institute for Liberty, and Bank of Kev Productions.

Big Party headliner Sophie B. Hawkins emerged in 1992 with a fierce bidding war for her debut album, Tongues & Tails. The Columbia Records release quickly went gold, earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, and fired a single, “Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover”, into the Top Five. Another gold album, Whaler, followed two years later along with the single, “As I Lay Me Down” that would chart in Billboard for a record-breaking sixty-seven weeks.

By the time she got to Timbre in 1999, she had won universal respect for her rare blend of gutsy honesty. Hawkins subsequently worked out an agreement that allowed her to leave her label while retaining ownership of the masters to Timbre. She re-released Timbre on her Trumpet Swan imprint and hit the road–on her own, with her band in a station wagon.

2004′s Wilderness followed. Working out of her home studio near Los Angeles Hawkins wrote and laid down Wilderness’ tracks on a variety of instruments: guitar, cello, drums, keys, plus the exotic percussion that has fascinated her since her studies while growing up in New York with African drum legend Babatunde Olatuni and at the Manhattan School of Music. On Wilderness, these elements flow through nuanced arrangements, in which echoes of Nina Simone, Laura Nyro, and other influences only enhance Hawkins’ unique sound.

August 2006 saw the release of her debut live album, the Bad Kitty Board Mix. Recorded in Seattle, the two-disc set captured the true energy and essence of Sophie as a performer.

Don't be mean.

When the costumes come off some of those guys type really well.

No, I'm not commenting further on "When the costumes come off".

I'm not that much interested in the blogger scene.

“I am not anti-gay and generally have a live-and-let-live attitude — but to openly celebrate the pederast lifestyle at a Conservative event?”

That’s a large part of the problem. Too many people have bought into the lie to tolerate evil, to live and let live. Now evil has metastasized into a deadly tumor.

Should have never trusted ANDREW BROKEBACK after he attacked Birthers during a Tea Party rally last year.

Anyone who attacks Birthers is not a real conservative....and Brokeback proves that point even more

I'm not a live and let live kind of guy. I'm the kind of guy who wants to return to the Sodomy Laws. I want a return to the moral and legal standards that made our Country great.

Amen. I get absolutely nauseous when people keep saying that they don't care what two people do sexually behind closed doors. This is why we're in the current situation we find themselves. Reverse Lawrence v. Texas and reinstate sodomy laws, which were reasonable and right.

What is it with all these supposed conservative people and organizations turning into arms of the homo-agenda? GOProud is NOT conservative at all, other than a nod towards the Second Amendment and a mumble about "holding the line on spending". Holding the line!??!?? How about cutting it starting by 75%??? Everything else about GOProud is HUGE Government homo-agenda nazi style enforcment! Breitbart is sick in the head.

I’m sure that GOProud considers their association with Breitbart to be quite a coup, much as I am sure that they were thrilled to have Coulter as a speaker at HomoCon. These willing idiots are simply being used to advance the homosexual agenda.

It’s not at all unusual, particularly for someone in the public eye.

I expect that the issue comes down to $$$$.

GOProud is probably promising to lay down big cash and then these so-called conservatives fall all over each other go get it.

anyone endorsing the homosexual agenda is not a conservative and are more libertarian or liberal on social issues

I couldn ‘t careless if some know that queer and they’re nice. so what it does not mean you have to embrace their agenda .
I’ve got to know some queers but I let them know I do not agree with them

WTF has happened to CPAC?

More importantly, WTF has happened to Breitbart?

“I love my phrase ‘omnisexual,’” Hawkins has said in Go Magazine. “The truth about omnisexuality is my sexuality is spiritual. It’s creative. I absolutely can fall in love with any gender if I love the person’s mind, heart and soul.”

Again why is there a C in CPAC? Seriously, this is weird.

Right. GOProud seems very tribal. I notice adults-first libertarians are also censoring conservatives on websites (myself included) for asking simple questions.

So much for “free speech” right?

The guest singer Sophie B. Hawkins is a fan of omnisexuality, so she is a real catch.

See: http://www.gomag.com/article/an_interview_with_sophie_/

If that’s not creepy, then what is?

Good link! It is ironic that the conservative movement is being undermined by pretend conservatives within. The guy has a point.

Well, I hope GOProud enjoys Sophie “I love my phrase ‘omnisexual’” Hawkins. Just hope parents keep their kids well away from this.

I kind of see what you mean. But Coulter didn’t come to compromise – she came to evangelize. She stood up for traditional marriage at a gay event and that shows guts.

As for Breitbart? Fair point. I can’t work him out. Paying (my guess) a hack singer like Sophie Hawkins who is (a) not a Republican, (b) not a conservative and (c) a lover of omnisexuality, has freaked out a number of people.

Regardless of her motives, she leant tacit approval and legitimacy to the organization, an organization whose goals do not correspond with those of most conservatives.
