Where did you read this about the pork. Not to be a trouble maker, but many Christians don’t eat pork. There are bible verses referring to it....anyone know the specifics? Besides, when you eat a pig, you are eating what they eat!
I don’t enjoy dining on trash! ;0)

I doubt any pork sold in any ordinary supermarket has ever dined on ‘trash’. Pig diets are almost entirely corn and soybean based.

36% beef is still beef. Taco Bell is gonna win this one if that’s the finding.

Reminds me of something I discovered when I chauffeured pizza's for Domino's many years ago. The pizza boxes said "Made with 100% Real Cheese", but the bags of cheese we used indicated a 50/50 mix of real cheese with some other stuff. So, the box was correct, pizzas were made with 100% real cheese; that just wasn't the only cheese product being used. The question smart consumers have to ask, then, is "what else is in my food?"

>> “Another article claims Taco Bell’s ‘taco filling’ is only 36% beef.”

.
In real Mexican cooking, tacos use only pork.

I’m about to rip into a Double Decker taco supreme and a chicken burrito, $3.24 inc tax.

I agree with discostu, it’s fun when they give you the three bags the guy behind you in the drive-thru ordered.. it’s always the expensive stuff.

Once I ordered a burrito and a soda and they gave me three bags of stuff, not burrito but that was OK

LOL! That happened to me once. I ordered a couple of bean burritos and ended up with enough food to feed a family of 5.

And meanwhile, options for the authentic cuisine include tripe, pork esophagus, and various cuts and parts of steamed cow’s head. Mmmmm.

Do you like that melted ‘cheez’ sauce? I don’t.

I have not been to Taco Bell in over 10 years, but I recall it always hit the spot when on a low budget and in a hurry.

I used to work at Taco Bell in my youth. We used 100% beef, that we cooked in the store, and seasoned. Now the “meat” comes in bags and is poured out into steamer pans. It’s NOT the same. It’s disgusting slop. We also made the refried beans from scratch with....LARD. And we used REAL sour cream, not the acified foam they use now. They don’t even fry the shells in the stores now, they use pre-packaged. That’s why the shells fall apart so fast. If you could compare the taste of a circa 1990 Taco Bell product compared with one from today, you’d be stunned and disappointed how far they have decreased in quality.

All I know is that the food & srvice went into the dumpster around 25 or so years ago, and I quit going there.

Now I live where we have almost no Taco Bells within 200 miles, but we do have Taco John’s “The fresh taste of West-Mex”.

Part of my point was that NONE of it is really Mexican food; it may be Tex-Mex, or “Mexican inspired”, but definitely not Mexican...and gets less so every year as they keep introducing new “inspirations”.

I LIKE Taco Johns because they use fresh ingredients. But you’re right it is Mexican-inspired.

To 62 - I didn’t read about it. Someone I know who worked at Taco Bell whilst in high school told me. And he worked there when no products were offered that were advertised as containing pork, (I understand they’ve shredded pork tacos now).

Ew. That’s the exact reason why I don’t eat Taco Bell.
