Mark Levin Threatens to Sue Chris Matthews, Others
NewsMax ^ | 1/16/2010

Conservative talk radio host Mark Levin said he would file a lawsuit against anyone in the media who tries to link him to the shootings in Arizona, as Chris Matthews did earlier in the week.

On MSNBC’s “Hardball” Tuesday night, Matthews essentially blamed Levin and talk radio host Michael Savage for creating a climate of hate that led to the Tucson shootings that killed six and injured 13, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

On Wednesday, Levin — an attorney — told his listeners: “I’m waiting for an allegation that is very specific against me because I’m going to sue. I don’t care if they’re bloggers, I don’t care if they’re television hosts, I don’t care if they’re radio hosts. I’m going to drag your a** into federal court. Oh, you’ll have due process. It’ll all be nice and legal. I’m going to personally depose you. I’m going to drag you in front of a jury, and I’m going to get your assets.

you want people to tone it down? OK, good. Anybody who accuses me of inciting mass murder in Tucson, Arizona, is going to be sued. Period.

I'd pay money to see that trial!

Go Mark go! I’d love to see ANY of the liberal media or politicians sued by TGO. There’d be a lot of crying and apologizing, and I hope big damages paid.

Maybe this is what we need. Usually, we just cringe in the fetal position when under attack. Perhaps, if lefties are forced to face the consequences of libel and slander, they’ll think twice before accusing.

Levin: I'm going to personally depose you.

I'd pay money to be present at the depositions! He'll get to ask all sorts of question which won't be asked at trial.

Completely agree!! Instead of curling up in a fetal position every time the Marxists start yapping, Conservatives need to take a lesson from the Obama playbook and double-down. Get in the faces of these A-holes! When you stand up to bullies, they usually run away like the cowards they are.

Since Levin is an attorney, I am wondering if he would be interested in handling, pro bono, a class action lawsuit on behalf of people who associate themselves with the tea party movement and, through statements made by various liberal figures, have been libeled/slandered by them. Most people associated with the tea party movement are not “public figures” and therefore the “absence of malice” legal theory would not apply. Simply false defamatory statements would be adequate grounds for a lawsuit. Would that be possible? I'm not an attorney so I don't know, but it seems possible.

You know, this would be interesting. Levin is a public figure and public figures have a hard time winning or even progressing in defamation suits, although I don't put Levin past winning against a sniveling, stupid worm like Matthews.

And now that CM has made a specific allegation, I'll be interested to see if Levin actually attempts a real lawsuit. It's a lot of time, misery, expense and effort to be invested on Levin's part.

Let's see him put his own money where his mouth is.

I don’t understand, why hasn’t Sarah Palin done this already?

Perhaps Palin has been advised not to telegraph her punches. IMO, Levin should’ve just waited for his opportunity and then pounced. Now they’ll back down just enough to stay out of his snare.

I’m sure when Mark Levin says he is going to do something he will do it.
GO MARK!!

>> It’s a lot of time, misery, expense and effort to be invested on Levin’s part. <<

Agreed. Mark is PROBABLY bluffing.

Still, if Levin can pretend successfully to be just a little bit crazy and irrational, then maybe he can intimidate Matthews and the latter’s ilk into backing down and/or withdrawing some of their more extreme statements. Even if they’re confident that Mark couldn’t win a full-scale lawsuit, they certainly wouldn’t want to be deposed by him.

In the meantime, Mark’s ingenious little game no doubt will allow him to have more fun than barrel of monkeys!

So, why doesn't he find a plaintiff and take their case on this Tucson libel?

I have read what Matthews has said. I don't believe it is actionable for Levin. Unless all Levin wants is a deposition--in which case, go for it!

But there's all sorts of plaintiffs out there, non-public figures, who'd have a case.

I think he made that threat after Chissy said what he said..he has given them all fair warning...I remember decades ago Carol Burnette actually sued Confidential magazine for slander and won...its possible. Now there are so many types of that rag, you cannot sue them all.

Mark Levin is awesome and I’d be thrilled to hear or read about how Chris “thrill up my leg” Matthews had to file for bankruptcy because he lost every cent to Levin in a lawsuit.
