Hmmmm, that’s not been my impression of Jeb (at least in his public statements). All I’ve heard Jeb say is that we should not alienate the Hispanic vote, and on that point I agree. I don’t believe being strong on illegal immigration and reaching out to Hispanics is mutually exclusive.

If you can provide a link that explains Jeb’s views on illegal immigration, that would be appreciated.

Sorry guy - you fell into the "race" trap. Don't get dragged down into that discussion.

The model is conservatism, not identity politics.

You're either a fraud, or just plain ignorant.

Reaching out to LEGAL (let's PLEASE make that distinction) Latinos is fine, but why do we need a RINO to do it?

Answer...

WE DON'T.

Anyone who wishes to continue publicly separating Americans into racial or ethnic groups is no conservative. PERIOD.

Ya better read the article:

Gov. Jeb Bush on Thursday will kick off its efforts to improve the party's outreach to Hispanic voters, many of whom have been critical of some GOP candidates' harsh rhetoric on illegal immigration.

I agree, but being a Texan, I fear, say 15 years from now, the urban centers (Dallas and Austin currently and Houston, San Antonio, and Fort Worth in the near future) as well as South Texas will trend Democratic on the backs of Hispanics. So I’ll concede this may be identity politics, but at the same time the Democrats have played this game to their advantage for the past 50 years.

Unfortunately, if you look at exit polls, minorities do vote as race blocks, even if it goes against their self-interest. So identity politics does play a role, maybe not in the overall vote total on the national scene, but in local and state races. I’ve seen this first hand in Dallas County, TX.

You got all of that from a query on Jeb’s stance on illegal immigration?

BTW, I’ll gladly concede that I’m ignorant many times.

Yep... For those not capable of critical thought, this is what the article says:

A Republican group including former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will kick off efforts to improve the party's outreach to pro-illegal alien Hispanic voters.

Let’s see:

He supports “comprehensive immigration reform(AMNESTY!)”

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0410/36427.html

http://www.cfr.org/publication/20030/us_immigration_policy.html

He supports the disgusting “DREAM” act:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1110/45735.html

And the coup de grace, The Huckster LOVES him:

“I love Jeb, I think he’s brilliant,” Huckabee said. “He could certainly raise the money, and I think he’d clear the deck.” He also said there are a lot of capable, qualified possible candidates who “aren’t the obvious ones.”

Every Senator is a career politician. Marco Rubio is a cut above. He kept Charlie Crist out of the US Senate. He is not a Mel Martinez clone which you will find out... I know this already by observing him in action

You now have to resort to altering the article to make your point? The article never says pro illegal alien.

Huckabee’s endorsement of Jeb is not a negative for me. Based upon your links, it seems Jeb Bush supports increased legal immigration, which I do personally support on free trade and free markets grounds. However, you do accurately point out that he supports amnesty and seemed to support the DREAM Act.

Thanks for these sources.

I think some conservatives, like Reagan and the Bushes, have supported amnesty for illegal immigrants probably on a misguided belief that illegal immigration is equivalent to free trade (this is my opinion). However, illegal immigration has little to do with a free labor market (no pun intended).

You now have to resort to altering the article to make your point? The article never says pro illegal alien.

I made it simple so those like yourself, who do not seem aware of Jeb Bush's pro-illegal alien positions, and like yourself, who seems to have difficulty comprehending what this article says.

Here is what the article stated:

A Republican group that includes former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on Thursday will kick off its efforts to improve the party's outreach to Hispanic voters, many of whom have been critical of some GOP candidates' harsh rhetoric on illegal immigration.

Here is what I rewrote for those like you, who seem to have problems determining WTF is being said.

"A Republican group including former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will kick off efforts to improve the party's outreach to pro-illegal alien Hispanic voters."

Jeb Bush wants to kiss the asses of those Hispanic voters who are offended that the GOP is not being nice enough to the illegal aliens...No?

Now can you tell me specifically what was altered?

I think some conservatives, like Reagan and the Bushes

Bush wasn't a conservative.

Reagan's horse had more class than the entire Bush family. I'm done with you and your BS jackassery...

Yet another Texan fraud!
