It's . . . it's perfect," she said, sitting on her new couch in her new D.C. apartment, letting out a sigh....

Weathered substance abuse?
I have a friend who is a bricklayer. He has been working various jobs to put food on the table. One of those jobs has been at a Section 8 apartment complex in Dayton, Ohio. He has shoveled the snow several times recently and when he gets home at night he is too sore and tired to shovel his own snow. The occupants just watch him work and then complain if he doesn't throw down enough salt.
Let me ask, who deserves the charity?
In two years it will be so trashed out that the property will be UNSALEABLE, and illegal to rent.
Quick, without reading the article, what is the CHANCE that this is NOT a government-subsidized program, but rather is one paid for by true private charitable contributions, as by the Salvation Army, for example? Govennrment “charity” is gun-barrel “giving”!
No, the article clearly states, “The goal is that within seven years, each will have saved enough to buy a home.”
I would enjoy seeing a follow-up article 7 years from now including an evaluation of the building.
If it’s still standing...
I think the government plans to do something like this with many of the empty houses across America, especially in the NICER neighborhoods.
I’d like to see a follow-up story complete with photos of this building in ONE YEAR (or less)!
It will be unrecognizeable!
THe “lovely white tile” in the bathroom will be black and slimy.
There will be burn marks all in the hardwood floor from the dropped crack pipe.
The SS refrigerator door will be all dented up from fighting with one of her baby-daddies.
The halls and stairwells will reek of urine and will be covred with graffiti.
Let’s revisit them in a year and see the condition of the place...
Well, the article does say that she is working part time at a Giant. That’s a start. There’s nothing wrong with people giving a helping hand with their own funds, as it seems has been done here.
“In two years it will be so trashed out that the property will be UNSALEABLE, and illegal to rent.”
I would have said less than two but either way that will be the outcome.
True however that was just ONE of the residents.
I’m all about helping people who are willing to work and help themselves.
I hate to speak ill of anyone, especially on Christmas day. But liberal policies will continue to ensure you don’t need to save a dime to buy a home, have a verified income, or any credit at all — if you have a preferred skin tone. It is certainly laudable that these people have set goals to save enough money over seven years to make a down payment, but what a joke.
“In two years it will be so trashed out that the property will be UNSALEABLE, and illegal to rent.”
Beat me to it, and much better said.
Just another place to have sex, use/sell drugs and have babies.
“”drug treatment facility””
___
Let us hope she becomes a positive statistic and beats the odds of trashing this new apartment and returning to a life of drugs.
In another vein it is a sad commentary on our culture when “bad behavior” is rewarded with a shiny tile floor and stainless steel refrigerators.
“I think the government plans to do something like this with many of the empty houses...”
Me, too. I have wondered with so many forecloses homes when the government will “pick them up” for HUD houses. Yes, in the really nice areas. Shove in the illegals or whoever and call it “housing freedom” (or some other stupid liberal new-talk). The liberal media will be fawning away and showing a family living next door to a surgeon or a CEO.
It is more than interesting that Insurance Reimbursements represent 4.9% of this organizations income.
That reflects a whole lotta “burning the house down” during a year.
And, of course, we pay that 4.9% of Insurance Reimbursements thru the premiums on our homeowners insurance.
And for the future we have a forecast of 80% chance of job loss; a Tiara pregnancy resulting in increased welfare payments; emergency room medical treatments for beatings/gunshot wounds; potential medicaid fraud; and 90% chance of apartment destruction.
