Specter farewell speech slams GOP 'cannibalism' (Adios RINO Rat!)

Departing Republican-turned-Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter on Tuesday said conservative Republicans who backed Tea Party challengers against establishment candidates in the recent elections engaged in political cannibalism.

In his final floor speech, Specter complained there's scant room for centrists like himself in a polarized Senate where civility is in short supply.

"In some quarters, compromise has become a dirty word," said Pennsylvania's longest-serving senator, who lost his re-election bid after three decades in the Senate.

Specter complained that some GOP senators had helped Tea Party challengers beat incumbent Republicans like Utah Sen. Bob Bennett and Rep. Mike Castle in his Delaware Senate primary.

"Eating or defeating your own is a form of sophisticated cannibalism," he said.

Any more, compromise IS a dirty word; and "centrist" is what a Liberal was 50 years ago, now that "Liberal" means what was then referred to as a Radical.

Compromise used to mean spending a little less on this you want, in return for us spending a little less on what we want, so that both a got a bit less; and that was generally good.

Now, compromise IS a dirty word in that it is, “you give up that moral stance on issue A, and let us keep half of our immoral stance, on issue B” so that incremental immorality is advanced; and that is just plain evil.

He’s still pissed that DeMint endorsed a conservative challenger over a fellow senator. If only Rick Santorum had done the same! But he put senate comraderie and comity over principle.

"Eating or defeating your own is a form of sophisticated cannibalism,"

If you were in my league, you might have a point there.

But to me, you're just some a$$hole.

Centrist? Really? Just what WAS his ACU rating for the past two years once he became a democrat? Can anybody remember a SINGLE democratic piece of legislation that Arlen voted against?

He even started talking about supporting bills that never came to a vote, which he had strongly opposed before his switch.

I been Phil Spectored, resurrected.
I been Lou Adlered, Barry Sadlered.
Well, I paid all the dues I want to pay.
And I learned the truth from Lenny Bruce,
And all my wealth won’t buy me health,
So I smoke a pint of tea a day.

It seems if these elected officials had done the job of serving the people instead of serving themselves he would still have a job.

Oh. That was the Spector we threw out of office here in PA? Geez, I didn't know that. I would have voted for him again. I loved the Wall of Sound pop records he made.

Certainly none in the Democratic Party, Arlen. Face it, you were ousted by Democrats. Your strategy backfired, and had you been a man of principle in the first place, you might have won “YOUR lifetime” seat. It’s good enough for you, paybacks are hell, aren’t they?

Enjoy your retirement on your fat undeserved pension.

"Eating or defeating your own is a form of sophisticated cannibalism," he said.

Let's be honest, Arlen, ol' buddy, ol' pal. Your enemies are called "voters". And you worked for them.

And they didn't like the way you were doing your job. Eventually, they came to the conclusion they didn't want to put up with your sorry ass anymore.

Retire gracefully. If you can.

Otherwise, good riddance.

Can we get a second opinion? I don’t think Barney Frank would agree.

Nah. Specter forgets that he was spurned by both parties. I guess he was just too “moderate.”

You were neither hot nor cold but lukewarm RINO Specter so we spewed you out of the mouth of the party. One down and a whole bunch more to go.

Snarlen is just jealous. He was hoping to be retired from the Senate in the horizontal position like his Buds Kennedy and Byrd. Only those Rats who never criss-cross party lines get that ‘honor’ Snarlen. Bye bye you selfish creep.

Wasn’t it his own Democrats who knocked Arlen out in the primary? Were they cannibals, too ?

There are few things that will give me greater pleasure than seeing this rotten POS leave the Senate.
