Officials suspect serial arsonist stalking Cape [Cod]

Police and fire officials are investigating an arson fire in Sandwich that has a disturbing similarity with a suspicious incident in Barnstable.

In both cases, the arsonist left a calling card, the message, "(expletive) the rich" at the scene.

When I was a kid, we had a repeat offender torching barns in the area. I was posted in the woods near our barn with a rifle, and told to drop anyone near our barn with roadflares and a gascan. Never had to shoot anyone at that time, but I was ready to-!! The culprit was caught and remains locked up, 35 years later.

CERTAIN DESCRIPTION OF THE ARSONIST:

20’s, white, tousled brown hair, Patagonia fleecy, unshaven, expensive hiking boots. Volvo station wagon, mid-90’s model, registered to father. Car bears stickers “AMHERST,” “CHOATE,” “LOOMIS-CHAFFEE,” “O,” and “WPXY.” Plastic cooling fan on car knocks incessantly against housing, has made a great racket for almost 3 months. Easy fix but educated Arsonist has never opened the hood of any car.
