Congress Moves Decisively During Busy Lame Duck Session to Honor Hobos
November 26, 2010

Dust off your bindles and get ready for some cutting edge melancholy harmonica sucking when your busy, busy Congress pushes aside major tax legislation (it's not even on the schedule) in order to address the vital National Homeless Persons Memorial Day issue.

Yeah, I know hobos aren't synonomous with homeless people, but I'm still fighting off the tryptophan and I didn't want to get into a discussion about the differences between hobos, tramps, bums, and the Democratic base.

National Homeless Persons Memorial Day

The speaker just announced it, called for a vote and got it. Passed.

Just got back from a trip to San Francisco. The stereotypes about that place are true. I saw one guy break dancing by himself in an alley, one guy asking for money because he was a 'veteran', and got berated by another because I didn't want to buy his discounted pass for the trolley car; all within an hour stroll in the city.

The only experience I missed I guess was walking in the Castro district and being called a 'breeder'.

I was in Frisco when JFK was in office. It was a loony bin then, there was a guy who walked around in a pirate suit with one actual wooden leg, a woman who walked down the sidewalk talking to someone on either side of her but you couldn’t see the other two people, a guy who walked the sidewalk throwing punches like a boxer, those are just the ones I remember quickly. It was like an insane asylum without a roof. Even back then they had about fifty queers to the block. They were proud of being gay when gay pride wasn’t cool.
