LOXAHATCHEE GROVES — Sunsport Gardens could be stripped of some home sites.

The nudist camp, well known in naturist circles nationwide, has been humming along with the same number of tent and trailer pads for at least nine years — well before Loxahatchee Groves incorporated in 2006.

The count stands at 133, according to the resort.

It's unclear how Sunsport Gardens grew beyond the 48 permissible recreational vehicle sites while under the county's rules.

Laura Wiist, who moved from Texas, finds living at Sunsport Gardens is a great antidote to a generally uptight world. "I feel so safe here," she said. "I can ride my bicycle at two in the morning and I don't have to worry."

I find the statement in the article "one-home-per-5 acres" in their "community plan" elitist in itself. Price out the poor by not allowing more homes per acre. A bunch of nudists in trailers and RVs don't fit the upscale elitist vision these "planners" have.

I think the nudists have a right to stay just as they are, regardless of any city grand plans.

Confession time here. My parents were Nudist here on the West Coast from about 1965 to I think about 1982, with us kids going with them until our early High School years when we chose not to go with them any more. Yea, there were plenty of non photogenic bodies, but there were also plenty of beautiful girls and women as well. My first girl friends were nudist, and they were much better looking than the girls from my Jr. High school.
