In a jovial banter, former President George W. Bush and pastor Rick Warren talked about leadership principles and how those led to some of the pivotal decisions Bush made during his presidency.

The conversation with the nation's 43rd president took place in front of thousands in the capacity-filled sanctuary at Saddleback Church as part of the church's 7th Civil Forum. Bush and Warren used the forum to expound on some of the details Bush's recently released book, "Decision Points."

From 2006:

Why is Obama’s evil in Rick Warren’s pulpit?
November 17, 2006

Rick Warren, the best selling author of “The Purpose Driven Life” and senior teaching pastor at Saddleback Church in California, has invited Sen. Barack Obama to speak to the congregation of the faithful on Dec. 1, 2006. In doing so, he has joined himself with one of the smoothest politicians of our times, and also one whose wickedness in worldview contradicts nearly every tenet of the Christian faith that Warren professes.

You’re being generous to anyone who’d invite the president to speak during the morning service.

Warren asked Bush about the importance of humor in leadership. "How important is it?" Warren asked.

I wish the 'pastors" asked him how important Christ is in leadership, but that is asking a lot from this bunch !!

Warren is the man pushing the “ONE SABBATH”. He is a kook along the lines of Oprah, no wonder he runs with Obama.

Thank you for posting that! EVIL IN THE PULPIT! I remember that as if it were yesterday. Rick Warren is a charlatan.

YBPDLN PL Ping

The YBPDLNPL is generally published infrequently, but based on the exploits of the megachurch pastors posts can spike for a period of time. If you would like on or off of this list please FReepmail me.

GWB and Rick Warren deserve each other.

The “emerging” president and the “emerging” pastor.....

No thank you.

These megachurches are in serious trouble. Donations and attendence are way down and their message that God wants you wealthy and happy isn’t believable any longer. I suppose he has to do SOMETHING to keep attendance up.

Might as well have George Bush speak. Rick doesn’t have anything to offer any more.

Oh, really? I had not heard of that one before. Yet another thing to keep an eye on.

These megachurches are in serious trouble.

One wonders what will happen to the shiny Churchmalls(R) and weekly MTD* themed worship shows if and when the economy takes a serious dive. Maybe someone, someday, will do a Dead Malls type website for these churchish spaces.
