WikiLeaks: Russians smell anti-Obama conspiracy

In Russia, the motherland of conspiracy theories, almost no one believes that Julian Assange and WikiLeaks are free agents acting on a desire to crack official secrecy and broaden the horizons of public awareness.

Although the more than a quarter-million secret US diplomatic cables spilled into cyberspace by WikiLeaks on Sunday include just 3,337 reports prepared by the US Embassy in Moscow, many Russians are already viewing it as part of a plot by American hardliners to discredit President Obama and, perhaps, to undermine his fragile efforts to “reset” US-Russia relations. ....

“I have no doubt that this was a prepared operation, probably by [the] US secret services," says Alexei Mukhin, director of the independent Center for Political Information in Moscow. “I find it improbable that US authorities couldn't deal with one guy (Mr. Assange) if they really wanted to. No, this is clearly being done as an instrument of destabilization," he says.

The most popular theory is that the massive outing of classified State Department communications is designed to make Obama look weak, inept, and unable to control his own government machinery.

“This will obviously damage Obama and his policies,” says Sergei Strokan, a foreign affairs columnist with the Moscow business daily Kommersant. “Obama made a strong emphasis on international affairs, outreach to the Muslim world, and resetting relations with Russia. These leaks show that many diplomats take a privately cynical view of those goals, or are actually working at cross purposes to them. All these disclosures will be a serious blow to America's new image in the world, and will only undercut Obama.”

Mr. Strokan adds that coming just after the mid-term elections in the US, the leaks are likely to benefit Obama’s Republican opponents.

If Putie thinks American “right wingers” are behind Wikileaks he’s badly mistaken.

I can see that. The threat is so great, new powers are required for safety and security.... or something along those lines.

Hillary violated international treaties by ordering diplomats to spy. SHE IS TOAST. Obama will fire her as Secretary of State. Foreighn countries are gong to demand that heads roll: it will be Hillary’s head on a platter.

Obama knows that the Clinton Crime Syndicate has been stabbing him in the back for months. Payback is a bitch, or in this instance, payback ON a bitch.

“...designed to make Obama look weak, inept, and unable to control his own government machinery.”

Well, Russia, comrads of the CIC, it didn’t take a the CIA, the FBI or the Secret Service, to make him look weak, inept, and unable to do his job, it was the anger of a single disgruntled homosexual corporal who took advantage of the system used by 3 million other honorable military and government employees. He was a viral bug.

The question is ..who is behind it??? I think it is Obama.

It's one of two things: BO thinks he has more to gain than to lose by doing the leaking(i.e. the destruction of the country)....or he is so weak and incompetent as to be unable to stop the leaker. Neither is a good thing.

I’ve had a nasty dark thought that, after the maximum negative PR has been wrung out of the leak itself, Assange and others in and around Wikileaks may have terminal accidents—which will be blamed on the USA, further isolating this country from the rest of the world.

And no, I don’t think US intelligence agencies in the present day would attempt such an operation. Many other countries would, though—in a heartbeat—to make America look even worse than we do already under Obama.

The other dark nasty thought I’ve had is that this just one more part of the Grand Scheme of Darth Soros to crash the dollar for Fun and Profit (especially Profit).

The two dark thoughts are not incompatible with each other.

Taken together, they may just mean that I read too many spy novels . . .

I think your are rright and this is what I thought.

This takes out the Clintons in 2012. Obama will have no opposition.

I think it is Obama. Nothing in here makes him look bad just a little weak.

I am hoping it is US intel or the Russians and there is more to come that gets the islamic but I doubt it.
