President Barack Obama received 12 stitches in his lip after being hit during a pick up basketball game, the White House said on Friday.
"After being inadvertently hit with an opposing player's elbow in the lip while playing basketball with friends and family, the president received 12 stitches today administered by the White House Medical Unit," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said, according to NBC News.
Gibbs did not release the names of the people playing with the president.
Obama had traveled to Fort McNair with a group of family and friends for an early morning game of basketball.
The president is a sports fan, roots for his hometown Chicago teams and has often gone golfing in addition to playing basketball.

The basketball is listed in critical condition, with multiple gunshot wounds, after secret service agents fired upon it. Also, two secret service agents are being suspended pending review, after they failed to “take the basketball” for the president.
He’s gonna need a couple of weeks vacation somewhere to recover from this.

Twelve stitches from an elbow in a pickup game? Riiiiight. I can’t recall seeing an NBA player get a twelve sticth cut and they play very physical. Does anyone else wonder if this is a smoke screen for the real incident that caused the injury. Remember Air Force one buzzing Manhattan that they claimed they were trying to get photos for the website, and it was the pilot’s decision? This administration is always covering up the truth.
