David Axelrod, President Obama's senior adviser and architect of his 2008 campaign, doesn't fear a good political fight. But in his personal life, Axelrod and his wife, Susan, have been fighting a 29-year battle with their first child Lauren's epilepsy.
Their story began when Susan discovered her 7-month-old in the crib, blue and listless. "She was sort of salivating at the mouth, and making a guttural sound" Susan recalls. "I think I was just sort of in shock."
The Axelrods rushed Lauren to the hospital , where doctors told them their daughter was having a seizure.
"It took months after she got sick for someone to say, well, you know what, she has is epilepsy," David told Fox News. "I knew the word, I knew it was bad. But I didn't quite know what it all meant."

Just heard a report that since childrens cold medications have been pulled off the shelves, children going to emergency rooms have dropped by 50%. Anyone heard about this?

Now why are we getting this in the press now unless of course, its Axelrods escape route and pretty dame nasty to use your daughter as coverage to get away from Obama.
Not to be cynical or anything; but, what is the purpose of this sob story?

Uh, oh. Lauren’s 29!! It looks like Obamacare will have to raise the age of child coverage on parental insurance.
One can’t expect a 29 year old to assume personal and financial responsibility for his/her own health care.
This isn’t new news. There was a 60 minute episode about his daughter just after Obama was elected.
My daughter has epilepsy, and many in that community know about the Axelrod’s daughter.

Thank you. When my kids were young, we never gave them cold medications. We seldom ever took them ourselves. Just tough it out until it goes away.
Apparently Keppra has helped her. I was watching Fox this morning and they profiled the family.
I wish his daughter well. As for Axelrod, he is a slime. Best if he gets out of public life and does something useful for a change.
Or maybe he could just sign up with the Mafia to run one of their drug rings and keep the interlopers in order. He’d do less damage that way.
All the medication thrown at kids today makes their immune system weaker, the body just gets used to it and it becomes useless after a few times.
When my kids were little I knew parents who used benedry more to knock their kids out. I thought it was terrible. I rarely used meds on my kids (except for antibiotics and such if they were sick). Of course, I hate using meds on myself either.
All the while this evildoer is wishing rationing on the rest of us.
Earlier report on this issue with his daughter was that the family blamed the inoculation the baby received immediately prior to the first seizure.
Anyone wondering if he sued the vaccine maker for untold millions.

my 28yo daughter has epilepsy she was diagnosed 2years ago she handles it
