Too Cowardly To Question Profiling Taboo
IBD Editorials ^ | November 19, 2010 | CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER

Ah, the airport, where modern folk heroes are made. The airport, where that inspired flight attendant did what everyone who's ever been in the spam-in-a-can crush of a flying aluminum tube — where we collectively pretend that a clutch of peanuts is a meal and a seat cushion is a "flotation device" — has always dreamed of doing: pull the lever, blow the door, explode the chute, grab a beer, slide to the tarmac and walk through the gates to the sanity that lies beyond.

Not since Rick and Louis disappeared into the Casablanca fog headed for the Free French garrison in Brazzaville has a stroll on the tarmac thrilled so many.

Who cares that the crazed steward got arrested, pleaded guilty to sundry charges, and probably was a rude, unpleasant SOB to begin with? Bonnie and Clyde were psychopaths, yet what child of the '60s did not fall in love with Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty?

And now three months later, the newest airport hero arrives. His genius was not innovation in getting out, but deconstructing the entire process of getting in.

John Tyner, cleverly armed with an iPhone to give YouTube immortality to the encounter, took exception to the TSA guard about to give him the benefit of Homeland Security's newest brainstorm — the upgraded, full-palm, up the groin, all-body pat-down. In a stroke, the young man ascended to myth, or at least the next edition of Bart-lett's, warning the agent not to "touch my junk."

Not quite the 18th-century elegance of "Don't Tread on Me," but the age of Twitter has a different cadence from the age of the musket. What the modern battle cry lacks in archaic charm, it makes up for in full-body syllabic punch.

It is the leftists who are responsible for all of this “anti-profiling” jackassery. Starting now we should be pushing for all LEOs to be targeting terrorists and criminals based on their identifiable characteristics and behaviors (whatever they are) and to be calling jihadis jihadis. We are getting people unnecessarily inconvenienced, molested and even killed (e.g. Ft. Hood) by lying to ourselves about who is attacking us and why.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Don't touch my junk, ObamaCare — get out of my doctor's examining room, I'm wearing a paper-thin gown slit down the back. Don't touch my junk, Google — Street View is cool, but get off my street. Don't touch my junk, you airport security goon — my package belongs to no one but me, and do you really think I'm a Nigerian nut job preparing for my 72-virgin orgy by blowing my johnson to kingdom come?

Airline "security" has been an outrage since 2001.

Anybody with half a brain knows that the vast majority of what airline passengers go through is in aid of nothing except political correctness.

I hope they have finally reached the limits the tolerance of the American public and will have to back off some of this nonsense and start doing some of what works (profiling).

I've worked in a maximum security prison facility and been patted down, and from all I've seen and read, this is much more invasive and intrusive.

None of the news stories dealing with the upside-down, inside-out security screening policies of the federal government will dare to utter the poison word “profiling”, yet this is the issue that is at the bottom of this entire mess. The American people who are the targets of the terrorists have become the targets of security screening in a bizarre attempt to demonstrate “equality” and “fairness” so that we can say to the world that we treat everyone alike. In the meantime, while the feds are busy groping 80-year old women and nuns at airports, Middle Eastern men are being whisked through the metal detectors and seated on their flights, without so much as a second look. This is a terrible dereliction of duty.

We know that terrorists are Muslims.

But in the bizarre world that passes for TSA inspections, they are given a pass with a cursory inspection whilst us poor dhimmis are subjected to a humiliating ordeal for the dubious privilege of flying.

They don’t have to kill us anymore. The Muslim World can laugh itself to death watching the dhimmis strip themselves of their last vestiges of dignity and freedom.

Isn’t there anything a good man won’t say “no” to today?
