The ratings are in, and it looks like “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” is a hit. TLC says nearly 5 million total viewers tuned in to the premiere of the series.

In case you haven’t seen our previous coverage, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” is a documentary series from producer Mark Burnett and starring former Alaska governor and Fox News Channel contributor Sarah Palin.

TLC says 4.96 million total viewers tuned in, including 1.8 million adults 25-54, and 1.6 million adults 18-49, two of the network’s key demos. That is the best premiere in network history with regards to total viewers, beating the 2003 debut of “What Not to Wear.”

Second, given that Palin’s other daughter got pregnant, unwed, the image of this moron disrespecting the parents and going up to the girl’s room in their own house under her distracted nose....

Maybe that was the point, to show just how easy it is to get distracted.....

Oh LOL thanks for the correction. My sister loves that show. I watched the re-broadcast as well. Some might have forgotten it was even on and when they were flipping around the stations, noticed it and started watching. I’m glad that TLC re-aired it, they are re-airing it tonight too

I do wonder how cold it was - in temperate climates rock climbers prefer bare hands but they also use chalk for better grip - at popular climbing sites you can work your way up following the chalk marks - like breadcrumbs! ;-)

Great show and I liked the fact that Todd runs around in his pickup truck with a aluminum fuel tank and pump in the bed of it. That boy would fit in real good down here in farming country.
City folk probably wouldn't understand ;^)

Started out good, the bears and such while fishing but the last fifteen or twenty minutes about the rock climbing was so boring I would have changed channels if there was anything at all going on.

God figure, I had just the exact opposite reaction. The fishing part was my least favorite part. I loved the rock climbing part. I think I was amazed that Sarah would let that episode stay in the show. She was truly wanting to opt out of that climb, but she was cognizant of not "giving up" no matter what. I think that it showed her true grit more than anything. She could have opted out and cut it from the show. Her ego was not so large that she would stop them from showing her fear and struggle on the final cut.

Good argument except the opposition would say to you, why didn’t she have that same grit instead of walking as governor??

If they had more brain and less emotion, they could have left her alone, and she’d probably still be Gov of Alaska and out of the public mind.

That incident is proof positive that liberals have no comprehension of political strategy whatsoever. Their intent was to destroy her, but instead, they enabled her to grow to gargantuan proportions. They actually set her on the path to the White House with their despicable shenanigans.

Talk about unintended consequences!

They also put a trio of hard-core leftists at the key command posts of our government, who then proceeded to punch the accelerator on their socialist agenda, with devastating consequences for the nation - and the Democrat party.

Meanwhile Sarah continues to outwit the left-wing/RINO establishment like they were mere school children.

Gotta love it!

I’m sure you have heard her reasons before. Bankrupt from deliberate frivolous lawsuits, both personally and for the state. When your personal legal fees run over $500,000 and your salary is only $100,000 and the state is also being hit with legal fees, and you have a family to consider, what would you do? She was smart enough to bail and reload. If they had left her alone, she would have served out her term and faded into obscurity. They should have known better than to poke at her like that.

I betcha that if it wasn't Sarah, TLC would have caved and pulled Ol’ Joe out. Sarah gives everyone associated with her some extra spine.

I disagree from this standpoint. Sarah clearly thought about giving up, but she gathered herself, thought the situation through (focused on her knee instead of her feet) and mustered the courage to keep going. She admitted her weakness, overcame the temptation to quit, and was able to enjoy it when Todd climbed the same mountain with no problem.

Thinking about those personality traits in a president (unlike the current limp-wristed pansy who looks for compliments and awards when he has done NOTHING) tells me a LOT about Sarah's character. Just my take...

the disrespect this idiot showed his girl-friend’s mother. On TV. Knowing how the nation’s treated her.

He should be banned from the house, forever.

Agreed. That kid needs to go.

Todd seems like a very loving father, but he really needs to clamp down on the boys who are dating his daughters. One Levi is quite enough.

I don’t climb, but it probably has something do with tactility. Bare fingers can feel and grip better than with gloves on. Of course gloves are used for rapelling.

Sarah is a tough lady who isn’t afraid to break a nail. I think the next time she does this she ought to invite the porker Rove along. He would not have a clue how to negotiate a wilderness.

It was a very good show.

My only gripe is: Sarah Palin talks all the time. Talk. Talk. Talk. Talk. Talk. Even when she was climbing the base of the mountain (without GLOVES !). It’s like she thinks with her mouth. It got kinda annoying towards the end.

She’s really the alpha soccer mom and TLC did a great job presenting her that way. No wonder Bristol rebelled and had a baby out of wedlock. I probably couldn’t stand all the yapping either. Todd, her husband, is a really good man for being so patient with her.

But other than that, I love this show. Piper is a star!
