The Biofuels Scam
The American Thinker ^ | November 07, 2010 | James M. Andrews

Posted on 11/07/2010 3:22:38 AM PST by Scanian

Since 2007 the price of food around the world has just about doubled. Bad harvests, inflation, or George Bush didn't cause this price increase. According to a secret report from the World Bank, reported in the UK's Guardian, 75% of the increase in price has one source: "Biofuels." This contrasts with US claims of only a 3% biofuels-caused increase. The World Bank also says that rising food prices have pushed 100 million people worldwide below the poverty line. Riots have been sparked from Bangladesh to Egypt.

Where is the outrage? Where are the MSNBC stories on food riots? Where is Sean Penn?

The Holy Grail of the Left in recent years is Climate Disruption (formerly known as Global Warming and Climate Change). Much ink has been spilled and much airtime has been devoted to pushing the Green Agenda. Legislation has been passed in the US, Europe and other places to address this so-called crisis. Incandescent bulbs have been banned, and mercury laden CFLs required. Coal-fired power plants are shuttered, raising the price of energy. Vast oil fields are placed off limits. "Cap and Trade" rules threaten our already reeling economy. Among other measures, Congress mandates that gasoline contain 10% by volume of ethanol. As a result, the US is currently burning about 25% of its corn crop as fuel. Government subsidies and mandates work quite well at converting food into fuel, thus reducing the amount of food. As anyone with more than a room temperature IQ knows, less of something results in higher prices. Hungry people? Pssh! Saving the planet takes precedence.

Why? It puts the Left in charge of running our lives. That’s the real objective. Saving the planet is hokum.

Of course, part of the rise in food and fuel prices (which are incredibly not figured into the inflation rate)is due to the fact that our Federal Reserve has devalued our dollar by 40%. No wonder we are paying more for the shrinking packages of cereal and cheese and everything else at the grocery store.
We are now in the Second Carter Era, when the same thing happened and the inflation rate reached 18%.

People are amazed at the rising prices of meat and dairy and wonder why? Not evile corps. Not U.S. crop failure?

It is the environwackos confiscation of feed grain for biofuels.
Do you want biofuel or food? simple question. Remember Mc Lame is a BIG supporter of the biofuel cartel.

If I understand this correctly...every time I fill my tank with the 10% ethenol mix fuel I am starving a person to death? Great! Thanks, eco-nuts.

I have been thinking about the whole food police vs nutrition vs obeseity rates among children vs food production policies. Besides getting a headache, this whole concept is simpleminded and is strictly an attack on the family.

I mean really, does anyone other than a hopped up doper REALLY thin a toy in a Happy Meal is going to END Childhood Obeseity? REAAALLY?

Yep, the same people who demanded we stop using paper grocery bags because too many trees were being used, and demanded that we use plastic bags. Oops, plastic bags are now evil and are supposedly worse so we should reuse cloth bags. Oops, those are breeding grounds for all kinds of nasty bacteria... And then there’s the whole global warming hoax and the idea that wind or solar power is remotely efficient on a grand scale.

Environmental whackos run on pure emotion and zero facts. Sure we all want to be good stewards of our resources, but these crazies ought to be laughed out of the public square. They are NEVER right.

It sure puts a hurt on Marine engines, and outboard motors.

The stuff turns to water before you can burn it.

I go out of my way and pay extra for gasoline that does NOT contain ethanol. That stuff does bad things to engines that weren't built specially to tolerate it.

And it does attract water.
