Republicans on Tuesday appeared to take control of the Alabama Legislature, with top Republicans claiming to have close to 60 seats in the 105-member House of Representatives and about 22 seats in the 35-member Senate.
...
Auburn University at Montgomery political scientist Brad Moody said Alabama was late in joining other Southeastern states in having at least one chamber of the Legislature controlled by Republicans.
"It's a big deal. The Alabama Legislature just has been one of the last to switch from being Democratic controlled to Republican controlled," Moody said.

Next -- Redistricting!!!!
Good for you guys! California went straight progressive/marxist. Watch for California to down the toilet.
It wasn’t alone apparently. Maine and Wisconsin apparently flipped too.
Roll Tide!
In Birmingham we love the governor
Now we all did what we could do
Honestly I am mad about the national Senate losses...BUT, this was a HUGE, HUGE night.
Not just a victory, but a landmark victory.
The GOP hasn’t had this much power at the state level since I believe they said the 1920s.
The House majority will be a pretty decent size for the GOP as well.
Repubs in Texas took 90 of the 150 seats.
No Alabama wasn’t alone.
Up here in MI we wiped the floor with the rats.
2 judges on state supreme ct.
Governor.
Secretary of state.
Attorney general.
State senate.
State legislature.
GET an Arizona style anti-illegal alien enforcement bill in the hopper and passed, ASAP!!!
OK, youze guys need an anti-illegal alien law on your state book up there in MI, too. (Arizona is the great template)....
“Next — Redistricting!!!!”

You are absolutely correct. I know that many of us are focusing attention on individual, high profile races, but what is really important was who controls the state legislatures which means Re-Districting. It looks like the GOP picked up a TON of state house majorities including Alabama, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Wisconsin just to name a few. The re-districting, which happens every 10 years, influenced this election. Now jerrymandered districts (which almost always favors dems) will be done away with. It will be much harder for dums to win at the state and Congressional level beginning in 2012. Especially if they contine to vote for the same hard left, anti-American/Constitution dem leadership.
Redistricting is HUGH and SERIES!!!!
I wonder how hussein, the man who immediately after being sworn in took personal control of the 2010 Census feels this morning about how his census tally will be used?
I am so proud to live in the great State of Alabama this morning.
Agenda for the new legislature:
1. Opt out of Obamacare completely
2. Pass an Arizona style illegal alien law
3. Firmly assert Alabama’s 10th Amendment rights
4. Reign in the state budget
The Alabama GOP done good. Heck, they even took out Jan Cook.
Good riddance to that crooked POS Lowell Barron!
And War Eagle!!!!!
136 years of Democrat rule in the Alabama legislature ends in January!!!
Now I am quite sure that business will pick up in Michigan, after so many miserable years.
