The 2010 election results should not be interpreted as an "affirmation" of Republicans, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Tuesday.
McCain, the party's 2008 presidential nominee who's up for reelection today, said the losses Democrats are expected to suffer nationwide were more about frustration over President Obama and incumbent Democrats than anything else.
"The moral of this story is that this election is a repudiation of Obama and the Democrats," McCain said on Fox News. "It is not an affirmation of Republicans. So Republicans have got to come through and satisfy this outcry — this anger and frustration — that's been expressed."
Republicans are expected to pick up the net gain of 39 seats they need to win back the House and make major pickups in the Senate — though probably not enough to win a majority. Those kinds of wins are leading some Republicans to claim a "wave" on their behalf this cycle.
But McCain said the GOP would now face pressure to deliver on its expectations, partially from the Tea Party movement — the ascendant group of grassroots conservatives who have sought to drag the Republican Party further right.

Yes and no. McCain was the “maverick,” remember? That means he himself repudiated most of the Republican platform and principles. So he’s just thinking this is another affirmation of himself.
It’s not. It’s an affirmation of what were traditionally the GOP planks, which were revived by the Tea Party (with which he has NO connection).
McCain wants the old RINO party back again.
Did anyone hear his speaking so sadly about Russ Feingold this morning. He is so sad that he is losing this race and said it was such a shame to happen to such a nice guy. Man it was like he was speaking of a friend at the Naval Academy who might lose out to President of the class or something rather than the future of our country. I don’t remember what show he was on but I listed for five minutes, went to the head to barf and then left for work.....

I watched McCain on Fox today. If I hadnt known it was him I would have thought it was a Tea party supporter. Strange doings lol.

McCain is correct. People who voted for Obama in 2008 and voting GOP now are not voting for far right conservative values. They are voting against Obama and his BS 2k page Obamacare bill that will kill this country, among other things.
Mark my words, the worst thing that can happen is for the GOP to get in there and push a social agenda. Cut spending, shrink the size of the government or hand it back over to the Dems in 2-4 years.
