I Hope You Freeper's Aren't Voting For Strickland

This guy may have the NRA's endorsement, but the people he can influence and help elect will work against your/our interests.

Would like to hear if any Freepers are planning to vote for this guy ...

I certainly won’t vote for that man! He is wishy-washy on the issue, and besides, surrounds himself with anti gun people, including his Lt. Gov., among others.

Kasich’s got my vote, and those of well over half of Ohio’s voters. Strickland is done for, thank God.

No FReeper is going to vote for Strickland.

BTW, the NRA is descending into irrelevance with their endorsements for Strickland and Zach Space.

No way. Strickland’s adopted hometown of Lisbon isn’t even endorsing him.

Strickland’s adopted hometown says - CHOOSE KASICH!
Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Governor Strickland likes to call Lisbon, Ohio “home”.

He likes speaking glowingly about eating oatmeal pie at the 24-hour diner or walking down the small town streets when he served in Congress.

So when it came down to whom his hometown newspaper would support in next week’s election, the choice was clear.

They endorsed John Kasich.

From the Morning Journal in Lisbon, Ohio:

Strickland has been as ineffective as Kasich is promising. Instead of spending the last two years solving the $8 billion projected deficit, he allowed the state to live off a federal government bailout and one-time revenue sources while leaving the budget woes for the next term and the next general assembly.

Despite losing 400,000 jobs during his four years in office, he failed to appoint a leader to the Ohio Department of Development for seven months. During the seven months without a Department of Development director, many businesses fled to other states, especially on the west side of the state where several moved to Indiana, which more aggressively courted their employment. He did nothing to stop one of the state’s biggest employers, NCR, from using stimulus money to move to Georgia.

His attempt to change Ohio’s prevailing wage and union preferences for public construction projects failed, meaning taxpayers will continue overpaying billions of dollars.

After promising to be the education governor if elected four years ago, Strickland unveiled an evidence-based school funding plan that had a longer school year and all-day kindergarten as its hallmark, but resulted in no measurable changes and no mechanism to pay for his proposals. In fact, the Ohio Department of Education has told school district treasurers to brace for 10 percent cuts in the next budget.

Strickland refuses to explain why he ignores performance audits that would make state departments more efficient. He also ignored the inspector general’s reports on potential corruption at the Department of Public Safety and the Ohio School Facilities Commission. He flip-flopped on gambling and the state now has rules that will result in big profits for casinos and little revenue for local governments.

Strickland claims to have some accomplishments. His administration was helpful in local economic development breakthroughs at the General Motors Lordstown complex and V&M Star. But most of the credit for these projects goes to union cooperation at GM and steel pipe demand created by the Marcellus Shale.

This is Ted Strickland’s record.

No not at all- but I will tell you that one of the reasons I think that Kasich has had problems really pulling away from Strickland is that many conservatives are wary that he is another Voinovich type Republican and it has caused his support to be tepid.

But hopefully with redistricting etc we all know what is at stake.

IMO...an NRA endorsement is not a major consideration in an election campaign. I am a staunch supporter of the US Constitution, as it was written and amended, including the Second Amendment.
But, for a given candidate, that is a single issue...one among many. And, it will always be the totality of the candidate that I examine to determine where to cast my vote.
Strickland’s endorsement by the NRA doesn’t outweigh his lousy liberal economic platform, or his “more government is better government” mindset.
Kasich is no friend of the Second Amendment, but he’ll need the help of the legislature to screw around with it. I’ll take up that fight if he chooses, when it comes.
For now, he’s the choice, for concerned citizens of Ohio.

That cracks me up! Strickland is from Duck Run, a good 125 miles from Lisbon. Lisbon is part of the occupied territory of Western Pennsylvania.

Well, I’m nowhere near where I could be permitted to vote for Strickland OR Kasich...., and if I were, it wold be Kasich....

NRA has made so many absolutely horrible endorsements of Pelosi’s sycophants this year that they have lost me as a member also.

True, but CCW is Ohio law, and Kasich won't even attempt to mess with it. It's here to stay, thank God.

Please repeat after me. There is no such thing as a "pro gun" or "pro life" Dem.

Bart Stupak should have proven that. Not ONE of the so-called "pro-life" Dems over the years has stuck to his guns against his party---not Holy Joe Lieberman, not Al Gore, and not Stupak and his merry band of traitors. Why would any of you think guns are any different? If the Party dictates you toe the line, you toe the line. That's what Dems do.

Heck no to Strickland.

I argued at a Tea Party Rally in Sept with a rep from the NRA over this endorsement. this is a one issue deal with them. They look at it very, very narrowly ..just the ONE candidate on this ONE issue as opposed to the other ONE candidate on the ONE issue.

I’ve not seen anything rino-ish from Kasich, and Strickland’s record is garbage. Too bad my Ohio relatives will probably vote for him again.
