Top Republicans in Washington and in the national GOP establishment say the 2010 campaign highlighted an urgent task that they will begin in earnest as soon as the elections are over: Stop Sarah Palin.
Interviews with advisers to the main 2012 presidential contenders and with other veteran Republican operatives make clear they see themselves on a common, if uncoordinated, mission of halting the momentum and credibility Palin gained with conservative activists by plunging so aggressively into this years midterm campaigns.
There is rising expectation among GOP elites that Palin will probably run for president in 2012 and could win the Republican nomination, a prospect many of them regard as a disaster in waiting.
Many of these establishment figures argue in not-for-attribution comments that Palins nomination would ensure President Barack Obamas reelection, as the deficiencies that marked her 2008 debut as a vice presidential nominee an intensely polarizing political style and often halting and superficial answers when pressed on policy have shown little sign of abating in the past two years.

...often halting and superficial answers when pressed on policy...This is pure bovine excrement, BTW.
Stop posting DNC propaganda.
They better pack a lunch cause Palin’s packin an army.
Rather than trying to stop Palin, they would be well advised to concentrate on winning. For Change!!
Only if they want to be the new third party. The Good Old Boy days are over. For both parties.
IF this is true, and remember, this is Politico, then to hell with the GOP
Sarah Palin needs to run to put OUR point across to the establishment elitists.
If the press questioned Obama like they do Sarah he would be a splat mark.
The #1 priority should be getting rid of Mike Steele.
Romney, et al, can go straight to hell!! Rotten SOBs!!
Vote the corrupt RINO bastards out and keep them OUT!!
Rebellion is brewing!!
Or think of it this way. The “establishment” candidate will have to adapt Palin’s positions even if SP isn’t the nominee, ala Gov. Purnell. Maybe SP wants to be a kingmaker while still enjoying the freedom of being a private citizen.
It’s always been true that the RINO elites of the GOP will stop a maverick like Palin. Old news, just different spin from O-litico.
Define Republican Leaders?? They are as dispised as the DNC.
Pray for the Election
Starts with a left uppercut and puts them down with a straight right, hope she puts the boots to them when they hit the floor.
That’s ok because they are next on OUR list....
The elite in the GOP are as scared as the dems of the true conservativesfor good reason. Its about time they get ...less comfortable.
The Republicans did not make this coming election on Tuesday a referendum on Obamacare and people like Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, and others in the Cocktail Party crowd have said they not only dont want to defund and repeal Obamacare, but that they are going to bully the newly-elected conservative, Tea Party-backed GOP Congressmen and Senators so that it stays business as usual in the go-along-to-get-along ranks with all these lily-livered sissies who are terrified of rocking the boat and going to all-out-war with the Left.
VERY interesting angle at
Let the bastards try. They could find themselves without a job.
Dope. It’s the voters. No,” TEA Party “ leader is in control of us, & we will vote for who talk’s and thinks like US
