Pickup Soccer Game Between Pali and Jewish Kids in Hebron
Account by witness | 30/10/10 | Eleutheria5

Who: Jewish and Arab kids Where: Hebron Casbah When: Today in the afternoon What: I was in Hebron today at the house of friends, where I met an old co-worker who was in town for Shabbat, Parshat Chayei Sara, the Sabbath when the Torah portion of Genesis that relates how Abraham purchased the Tomb of the Patriarchs (Me'arat Hamachpela) to bury his wife Sara in, and later is interred there himself after a long, full life. Jews flock to Hebron from all over the world in honor of the Torah portion commemoration of this holy site, and my old co-worker comes every year.

He decided to go to the Casbah, the local Arab flea market, which was opened to Jews in honor of the holiday, albeit with the usual IDF armed escort, rounds chambered, eyes open for trouble. I told him that you couldn't pay me enough to visit that horrible place, eyes boring into my back, hatred bouncing off the walls, and everyone's favorite NGO, the TIPH patrol (Ironic name, because "tip-aich" means "idiot" in Hebrew) making sure the Jooos don't violate anyone's rights. So he went. I didn't. And I missed this.

He came back, and told me how beautiful the Casbah turned out to be, and I said, "come on, you're putting me on." But he said he wasn't, and related to me the following: In a nearby vacant field, the Jewish kids joined in on a pick-up game of soccer with the Arabs kids, and everyone had an uproarious good time.

Unfortunately, the game had to be cut short because since there were more Jewish kids than Arab kids, they became outnumbered, and the Pali parents were starting to get involved, and consequently the Jewish parents did too, and things threatened to get out of hand, so the Mishtara (police) took the ball away and ended the game. I don't know who won.

The media was there, taking pictures and filming. So you'll probably see this in the MSM somewhere in the near future, spinned G-d knows how. ("Jooos steal soccer ball, ruin game," I suppose). But remember, folks, you heard it here first.

That is very interesting, enjoyed reading it very much.

I have visited Israel twice, in 1988 and in 1994, but we always skirted around Hebron, as it was “off limits” to tourists for safety reasons. Anyway, thanks for posting it.

Her game’s hockey, I think. She plays it with her pit bull after smearing lipstick on him.

Right now it’s open to everyone, although there’s plenty of security.

That’s what I initially read it as, too.

Allah forbids soccer, doesn’t he?

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (R) kicks a ball during a friendly soccer match with Bolivia's President Evo Morales in Tehran October 26.
