Mexican officials have reportedly identified two men they say are suspects in a pirate attack nine days ago on a Texas couple Jet Skiing on a border lake in which the husband was killed.

Mexican officials have not released photographs of the two men, but identified them as Pedro Saldiva Farrias, 27, and his brother, Jose Manuel Saldiva Farrias, Juan Carlos Ballesteros, an investigator with the attorney general's office of the Mexican state of Tamaulpas told ABC affiliate KRGV-TV in McAllen, Texas.

Both were said to be suspected members of the Zeta drug cartel from Nueva Ciudad Guerrero, near the abandoned town where David and Tiffany Hartley were sightseeing before they were ambushed, according to Ballesteros.

“You’d think that at some point, common sense would take over and they’d give up on their pet theory.”

When it comes to the open border/cheap labor/Mexico loving lobby around here, Common Sense NEVER takes over.

I’m not siding with Mexico. There are few facts yet other than her implausible story which she has already flip-flopped on. She’s both claimed he was shot in the middle of the forehead, and in the back of the head. That’s some good shooting from a boat at a moving target. There are no actual tears when she chokes up on cue, so she’s manipulative. She heard bullets flying past her from a running jet ski? Her husband flew over the front of the jet ski? That’s not what would have happened. She talks of her husband in the past tense and wanting this all to be done with. It’s good the police claim to believe her so she keeps on talking. I’m sure they are going through her cellphone calls and tracking history.

“Hunt them down like the vermin they are and dispatch them with extreme prejudice.”

These days with politically correct gentlemen’s wars, that will only get someone court martialed. Diversity and sensitivity training reigns supreme.

Perhaps watching too much Forensic Files. Conspiracy theorists can also get a bang out of Jesse Ventura starting Friday.

With Gov. Goodhair taking her side of the story, he either has facts that haven’t been divulged or he is grandstanding. Since the election is coming up and erroneous grandstanding would undermine his election prospects, I tend to believe the former; Mexico is a corrupt country, you know!

Maybe now the media will stop “suspecting” the wife in the crime. They were really bad this week about implying she may have had something to do with it.

Shep Smith was particularly bad, and misleading at times, with his teasers and reports. It was obvious he thought she had a hand in the crime, even though there was at least one eye witness who backed her story.

Shep Smith does that kind of thing frequently. Fox calls that a NEWS program? I worked for a television news department where we would have a brief segment at the end of the newscast in which the anchor gave an editorial opinion. It was clearly marked with a super at the bottom of the screen that stayed there throughout so there was no question that it was not news but opinion.

Shep Smith also thinks that a particular video of a tranquilized bear bouncing off a trampoline is hilarious. The producers indulge his weirdness and include it in the program whenever there's a report about an incident involving bears. I finally quit trying to watch FNC's seven o'clock THING and switch over to Jeopardy! instead.

Now, now. He's pretty good. Ask any of his boyfriends.

The legalization of marijuana would make many farmers happy and give big tobacco some work.
That said , I see stories that the Europeans are clamping down on their ‘industry’?

I agree...Inside the US.

At the same time.. Find a few competent Generals and unleash the Armed forces on the Narco Terrorists.

What's the difference between a Mullah Omar or a Pablo Escobar? (yes one is dead the other with some luck soon will be but that's not what I mean)

The activities of both result in the suffering, misery and murder of Americans..

So rise up and kill them first.

Inside the US let Law Enforcement keep up the pressure lawfully focusing soley on the distribution network.

Outside the US.. Hammer them, Kill them before they kill and destroy the lives of any more of our people.

We would do nothing less if a Country were to attack us with Chemical weapons..

So what's the difference?

The only thing preventing it is our FAUX Leadership Republi-Con and Demon-Crat alike.

Having known my share of drug addicts...and drug casualties...I am very ambivalent about the legalization of narcotics.
And yet, there is no question in my mind that legalization would remove the economic incentive from these drug cartels. They’d collapse almost overnight. Whatever it is that now costs, say, $100 on the street, and practically requires the buyer to engage in prostitution or burglary, would drop to $5 or so. And under current laws, of which I do not approve (but that’s another discussion), addicts could get maintenance doses from the govt or some sort of welfare agency. So that a secondary result would be less crimes for the purpose of supporting a habit.

Theories are always problematic. But it’s worth a try.

Accurate and succint post...

I don’t know, we may never know if these are the “real” perps, but one thing is for sure, this woman didn’t kill her own husband.

Michelle Malkin has looked at the problematic inconsistencies in Tiffany Hartley's stories and is also not yet convinced one way or another:

"Inconvenient questions about the Mexico lake shooting story"
