The legalization of marijuana would make many farmers happy and give big tobacco some work.
That said , I see stories that the Europeans are clamping down on their ‘industry’?

Having known my share of drug addicts...and drug casualties...I am very ambivalent about the legalization of narcotics.
And yet, there is no question in my mind that legalization would remove the economic incentive from these drug cartels. They’d collapse almost overnight. Whatever it is that now costs, say, $100 on the street, and practically requires the buyer to engage in prostitution or burglary, would drop to $5 or so. And under current laws, of which I do not approve (but that’s another discussion), addicts could get maintenance doses from the govt or some sort of welfare agency. So that a secondary result would be less crimes for the purpose of supporting a habit.

Theories are always problematic. But it’s worth a try.
