Democracy on Trial: Geert Wilders Goes To Court (criminal charges for insulting Islam)
Forbes ^ | Oct 3, 2010 | Abigail R. Esman

It may well become the trial of the century: this week, Dutch MP [Member of Parliament] Geert Wilders stands before the judge on charges of “sowing hate” through his speeches and writings about Islam.

...

For Wilders, however, its timing could not come at a more strategic moment. As the founder and leader of Holland’s far-right Freedom Party (PVV), Wilders is not only Holland’s most controversial politician, but also its most-favored, ranking higher in the polls now than it did after a sweeping victory in parliamentary elections this past June. Moreover, just last week, after months of debate, the Dutch parliament finally settled on a new coalition government that will include support from the PVV under Wilders’ leadership.

Wilders has to live under 24-hour security because of Islamic death threats over his writings and films exposing the threat from Islam.

The only truly just ending to this case would be the imposition of the death penalty on Wilders’ accusers and the judges who agreed to even hear this case.

Anything less will be a travesty of justice.

Interesting. If the plaintive wins, what would make the point loud and clear to Americans would be the verdict if Christian Churches sued for the insults it has suffered inreasingly in America!!!!!

The Dutch trial will be held in a courthouse not far from where Dutch film maker Theo van Gogh was brutally murdered by a Muslim over making a film (Submission) that depicted Islam negatively.

Geert Wilders political mentor was Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn, also murdered over his anti-Islam stance.

The judges were absolute jerks to bring this to trial. Wilders wins if he’s exonerated, and he wins if he’s convicted and made a martyr.

And exactly what was his offense? Telling the truth? Allowing the Muslims to convict themselves out of their own mouths, chanting their own Koran verses, and engaging in terror activities? There isn’t an abomination in the movie Fitna that isn’t spoken or chanted by the Muzzies themselves. Or a trainwreck or corpse for which they weren’t responsible.

The verdict will depend solely on whether the judges have the guts to stand up for western freedoms. A loss will be license for more of this crap to happen throughout the west, including the United States.

It’s time for all of the west to stand up to those out to destroy our institutions, our way of life and our values.

>It’s time for all of the west to stand up to those out to destroy our institutions, our way of life and our values.<

.
Tell that to Congress — so far, all that it has been doing is watching the destruction of our Western values without having any interest to stop the process.

There are several YouTube speeches by this brave gentleman.

I say “brave” because it is a fact that critics of Islam have been attacked and killed in Holland.

Check the videos out.

Obi-Wan: You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.

If Geert is imprisoned over insulting Islam, this may be the last straw for many Dutch.

World-wide, million of people ‘insult Islam”.

Are they going to hold a (reverse) class action trial against all of those people????

GOOD LUCK

I suppose that's possible....but highly unlikely.IMO we're about 20 years "behind" Europe when it comes to bowing to The Religion of Pieces so it's understandable why we'd have trouble comprehending a nation/continent that's so far "ahead" of us.

The fact that they even have a *law* that allows him to be put on trial should give us an indication of how bad things are there.

Glen Beck called Wilders a fascist just for the record....and more.

As stubbornly ignorant as leftists tend to be, there is a chance that they will actually sentence Wilders to a nominal time in jail, and thus the circle will be complete in an ironic and bizarre mirror image.

“Hitler began the dictation of Mein Kampf while imprisoned after his failed Putsch in Munich in November 1923.”

So Hitler violently tried to overthrow the government, and wrote his book of hate while imprisoned, his popularity growing by leaps and bounds, which allows his party to become a major force in the elected government.

Wilders is peacefully elected, his party becoming a major force in the elected government, and now could become wildly popular while imprisoned for opposing a book of hate.

Somewhere the gods of irony are having one heck of a laugh.

In a sane world this trial would be followed as closely as the OJ trial.

But this is not a sane world.

I think it unlikely that they would be so stupid as to actually put him in jail. More likely, they will fine him.

If they find him completely not-guilty, the Muslims of Holland will riot, thus proving his point.

I never bet against stupidity. There is no telling how far it will go.

Ask yourself, if the Democrat leadership could put Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck in jail, even for just a few months, on trumped up charges, would they do so?

I doubt the Netherlands socialists are any more sensible.

The crazy Muslims and leftists are probably the best thing that ever happened to Gert Wilders.

They are too stupid to realize that they are helping to support his case against Islam.
