I’ve been purchasing many items on the secondary market the past two years. Not just because they’re cheaper, but because they’re better made than most of the merchandise coming out of China.
These regulations will only spur an increase in secondary markets.

Just like health care... they now know they can just tell us we have to buy whatever they think we are supposed to have. There will be fines (taxes?) for not buying the appropriate appliances. They will put Whirlpool out of business for daring to challenge them. It will be easier and easier for them with each success.

Assistant Secretary of Energy Cathy Zoink said Thursday that the U.S. Department of Energy has a “mandate” to issue regulations to determine what outhouse appliances are available to Americans in the future.
“We’re going to update [the outhouse standards] more frequently” said Zoink. “We have the power to do that in the statute and in the outhouses.”
“As the secretary [Chu] says, ‘We’re going to make people save money for themselves,’” Zoi said. “They haven’t dumped the dollar bills on the ground yet but we`re going to make sure that they take a lot of dumps.”
"We feel that beyond just energy, outhouse science is at the heart of what will keep America prosperous in the coming years,” Chu said.

We Americans should just be so thankful that we now have a government that always knows what is best for us...and is not shy about reminding us about it every chance they get.
I don’t think Cathy has ever had a “Man Date” in her life.
All I will say is they can TRY. I am done playing the game with these power hungry idiots anymore. I dare them to tell me I have to throw away an appliance and buy a more expensive one.
