Feisal Abdul Rauf now says he is "looking at every option" to "resolve [the] crisis" caused by his proposal to build a mosque and Islamic center in the shadow of Ground Zero.
"Everything is on the table," Rauf told the Council on Foreign Relations, adding that he is "focused on solving it, and solving it in the way that will create the best possible outcome for all."
But Rauf was decidedly vague about precisely what options he's talking about -- even as he underscored what he insisted was the importance of building his project at its current proposed location, two blocks from Ground Zero.
He said he would consider delaying the project, a departure from earlier assertions that ditching the undertaking would incite violence among Muslims overseas -- as if the whims of foreign mobs should have any influence whatsoever on public policy in America.
And, anyway, it's not as if he has any other real choice than to move slowly, given that the Cordoba House/Park51 project has raised only $10,000 toward its $100 million goal.
Still, that didn't stop Rauf from telling his high-brow audience that he wants to build a coalition of religious moderates, who he said must retake the debate from extremists of all religions.

My train of thought was about the kneepads the MSM and pals put on every time this man opens his mouth, but decided that wasn’t appropriate. Then I thought about that vicarage in Littleton which I pass every day on the way to work. Lexington and Concord are just down the road. The original farm houses still there, even the dirt road has been restored to its original condition. Spending an afternoon at this living museum is a sobering experience. The original uniforms are preserved, musket balls, accounts of the battles, etc.. Somehow, you can read about history and it doesn’t quite hit home until you actually see the actual evidence of life as it was. You can feel your heart jump into your throat. So we vote today.
All eyes are on him and he won’t be able to get away with shape shifting now.

Is it Muslim or Moslem?
When Baby Boomers were children it was Moslem. The American Heritage Dictionary (1992) noted, “Moslem is the form predominantly preferred in journalism and popular usage. Muslim is preferred by scholars and by English-speaking adherents of Islam.” No more. Now, almost everybody uses Muslim.
According to the Center for Nonproliferation Studies, “Moslem and Muslim are basically two different spellings for the same word.” But the seemingly arbitrary choice of spellings is a sensitive subject for many followers of Islam. Whereas for most English speakers, the two words are synonymous in meaning, the Arabic roots of the two words are very different. A Muslim in Arabic means “one who gives himself to God,” and is by definition, someone who adheres to Islam. By contrast, a Moslem in Arabic means “one who is evil and unjust” when the word is pronounced, as it is in English, Mozlem with a z.

Established institutions which used the older form of the name have been reluctant to change. If the Ground Zero Mosque/Cordoba House/Park 51 Islamic Center/Downtown Interfaith Center 92nd Street Y - Downtown Branch is really going to be a place for moderate Islam and interfaith dialogue, why would the radical elements among Muslims overseas be upset if it was not built at the proposed location?
The answer is obvious. This is the Ground Zero Victory Dance Mosque, and it always has been. They are building their triumphal tower on the ashes of our dead in order to claim the site for Islam, as they have done time and time again in other conquered places.
That is what the potentially violent elements want, and that is what this project was supposed to give them. That is why they will riot if things fall through.
