Worldwide violence continues to decline, but most people are unaware of this because the mass media will feature whatever wars and disorder they can find. This is an old journalistic technique, and it's good for business. But not so helpful if you are trying to keep track of what's really happening out there. Oddly enough, the most bloody conflicts (like Congo) get the least media coverage. Reporting tends to be distorted by how accessible wars are, as well as how easily your viewers could identify with the combatants. The media also has a hard time keeping score. For years, Iraq was portrayed as a disaster until, suddenly, the enemy was crushed. Even that was not considered exciting enough to warrant much attention, and that story is still poorly covered by the mass media. Same pattern is playing out in Afghanistan, where the defeats of the Taliban, and triumph of the drug gangs, go unreported or distorted. If you step back and take a look at all the wars going on, a more accurate picture emerges.
Worldwide, violence continues the decline is has exhibited for most of the decade. For example, violence has greatly diminished, or disappeared completely, in places like Iraq, Nepal, Haiti, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Chechnya, Congo, Indonesia and Burundi. Even Afghanistan, touted as the new war zone, was not nearly as violent this past six months as the headlines would deceive you into believing.
All this continues a trend that began when the Cold War ended, and the Soviet Union no longer subsidized terrorist and rebel groups everywhere. The current wars are basically uprisings against police states or feudal societies, which are seen as out-of-step with the modern world. Many are led by radicals preaching failed dogmas (Islamic conservatism, Maoism)....

The more we replace middle east oil, the more violence will continue to decline.
“The more we replace middle east oil, the more violence will continue to decline.”
They don’t need to use violence anymore to conquer. Demographics and the eunuchifaction of the west will do just fine.
Both of you are right.... sadly.
We could also mitigate the demographic issues if we ended the oil issues. We ARE feeding the great dragon who seeks to consume us.
The War on Terror has morphed into the War Against Islamic Radicalism.
Thanks....
thanks.
Excellent article.
The U.S. already imports more petroleum from Canada, than from: Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Algeria, and Kuwait combined.
Of course, most of that oil comes from Alberta's oil sands — which leftists, and envirofascists in North America and Europe want to shut down.
A couple of interesting tables of data are at this site:

“We could also mitigate the demographic issues if we ended the oil issues.”
I don’t get how the two are related. The demographic issue is mainly related to immigration laws (or lack thereof), and it is the left that encourages that at all costs because it help them achieve their end.
There’s a strange, almost oxymoronic, symbiotic relationship between the left and the islamists - both want to destroy our culture as their number one priority, so they put up with each other even though their values are 180 degrees apart.

Interesting analysis. I still think the left-wing connections with Mexican violence are being overlooked, though. Mexico serves as a conduit for drugs from South America, and they are shipped through Venezuela and Cuba, making that income very important to the Marxist contingent down there. Furthermore, the domestic radical left (Marxist unions, etc.) in Mexico is very violent; folks will remember how they attempted to prevent Calderon from taking office. So I think just attributing it to the drug lords’ desire to make money overlooks the fact that the drug trade has significant leftist connections, just as it did in Colombia.
Other than that, everything is Islam. I don’t think Islam will just simmer down on its own, alas, although it is probably true that it will use political correctness to conquer without the effort of violence. It is busy installing itself throughout our government and turning our institutions to its purposes, mostly through Muslim converts or naturalized citizens from Muslim countries. They are hard to confront because while they exploit terrorist attacks to instill fear and compliance among us, they themselves maintain an arm’s length relationship with the terrorists that enables them to proclaim that they are “peaceful” and we are just bigots, the worst word one can possibly say in these times.
This site was given to me by my son in law who is an active US Army MI Major....he tells me these are all retired military...and their info is some of the best out there.
