Obamacare Is Here to Stay

Hugh Hewitt interviewed Senate minority leader John Boehner a few days ago, and could not get Boehner to commit to a rapid legislative agenda to repeal and reverse the democrat’s leftist legislative cramdown after the midterms in November. Boehner hemmed and hawed, sounding every bit like the establishment inside-the-beltway career politicians that got us into the dire economic mess that we’re in now.

To make matters worse, Bill Kristol related to Hewitt on yesterday’s podcast that he asked a “high-ranking GOP leader” what their plans were, what they intended to do should the GOP take control of one or both Houses of Congress, and this unnamed source said that they were trying to get members to sign off on a “No Earmarks” pledge, but said it was very tough going. Kristol was incredulous.

In this election year, with this blatantly obvious tidal wave of resentment and outright anger rushing toward establishment politicians (and quasi-socialist redistributionist Democrats), there are not enough Republican lawmakers with the backbone and moral courage to sign a pledge banning pork barrel spending?

I am sad to offer that I think there is but one even that will ever return us to a small government of the original Constitution with restriction of the activities thereof to the limited enumerated powers.

There are just too many tempting baubles for the political and ruling class that they would have to make themselves give up. They aren’t going to do that willingly. Most of these people wouldn’t have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of if they were not politicians.

"Bill Kristol related to Hewitt on yesterday’s podcast that he asked a “high-ranking GOP leader” what their plans were,"

I don't know about you guys, but I am getting pretty tired of ANYBODY who uses un-named sources.

If you don't have the spine to come out, then "STFU"!! (in quotes because I don't believe in "un-named sources")

RATcare cant be repealed before 2013 because da One will veto any such legislation.

If the GOP takes the House, it can defund the wretched scheme. I’ve heard Boehner say that is what he intends to do.

As long as we republicans continue to make the “practical” choice, and not the principled one in primaries we’ll never roll any of this back. It’ll just get worse until finally our representative republic isn’t.

If I had the power to I would institute a sort of a basic health care reform which would be overwhelmingly simple and which would resemble obungacare in no way, shape, or manner. Key points would be:

1. Elimination of lawsuits against doctors and other medical providers. There would be a general fund to compensate victims of malpractice for actual damage and a non-inbred system for weeding out those guilty of malpractice.

2. Elimination of the artificial exclusivity of the medical system. In other words our medical schools could easily produce two or three times the number of doctors they do with no noticeable drop off in quality.

3. Elimination of the various games which drive the cost of medicines towards unaffordability.

4. Elimination of the outmoded WW-II notion of triage in favor of a system which took some rational account of who pays for the system and who doesn't. The horror stories I keep reading about the middle-class guy with an injured child having to fill out forms for three hours while an endless procession of illegal immigrants just walks in and are seen, would end, as would any possibility of that child waiting three hours for treatment while people were being seen for heroin overdoses.

All of those things would fall under the heading of what TR called "trust busting". There would also be some system for caring the truly indigent, but the need and cost would be far less than at present.

This story proves no such thing.

(That Obamacare is here to stay or that the GOP leadership will let it stay.)

There are a lot of times where I’ve liked Mr. Boehner being my congressman. On the other hand, he voted for TARP. Before that awful piece of legal tripe was excreted, I wrote to all my pols, including him. I said, in effect, you have one vote that’ll make all the difference to whether I vote for you. He voted for it anyway. Unfortunately, with the primary system, while I can vote “off,” I’ve no alternative, genuine conservative to be able to vote for, doggone it.

I think all this talk is pretty vague, borders on hearsay and premature at best.

It will certainly be a real fight. The Republican party does not have much of a record of undoing the sins of the Democrats. On the national level, have they ever really rolled back any of this stuff?

I say that with reluctance, because I think Obamacare will destroy our country. But we are going to have to push them VERY hard, because they are extremely reluctant to get the message, as we see again and again.

He is House Minority Leader, not Senator.

Also, he will try to defund Obamacare if elected Speaker until a new President will sign its repeal.

This story is bogus.

I agree but the reprisals in 2012 and beyond will be worse for the Dims and rinos if he does.

I’m starting to think more and more about tipping points. I don’t know when it it will come, or what form it will take, but I now wonder what will cause the transition from flying ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ flags to ‘Lock and Load’.
