From Hope To Nope (A November catastrophe for the Democrats brings out the conspiracy theories)
Forbes ^ | 9/2/2010 | Trevor Butterworth

There is a new strain of apologetics in the mediasphere, stories that strive to mitigate November's electoral trainwreck for the Democrats by invoking near occult powers of malevolence. It was the billionaire Koch brothers and their funding of the Tea Party that undercut Obama, claims Jane Mayer in the New Yorker; yes, it was, and Rupert Murdoch too, wrote Frank Rich in the New York Times. It's because Washington is "broke," argues Todd Purdom in Vanity Fair, meaning broken by an excess of lobbying money and not broke by dint of fiscal profligacy. Purdom learned this, in part, by reporting a day in the life of the presidency.

To be sure, there are plenty of stories from the liberal-left that pull no punches: John Judis in a recent issue of the New Republic presents a reasoned dissection of the administration's failure to engage in the theatricality of populism, which FDR so ably did in similarly dire circumstances. Everyone remembers his line about fear, but what many forget was that FDR used his speech to assign blame. And even more important, those who were to blame, he told the nation, had already been held accountable--"The money changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization. We may now restore that temple to the ancient truths." The cohesive imagery, turning from scapegoating rhetoric to sacerdotal reassurance, and ending with a militaristic call to arms, told a story; listen to it today and it's spine tingling. In contrast, Obama's inaugural address sounded more like a memo filled with bullet points, written by a committee.

Democrats will invent any excuse to keep from admitting that their BS doesn’t work. Destroying America isn’t as easy as they though it was going to be.

It couldn’t be that Americans are simply fed up with feeding the bloated Nanny State.

Liberalism - never having to say you are sorry. Nothing changes with these clowns, especially their ability to deny culpability. Wow. Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt. I guess they aren’t as smart as that dumb Bush?

Koch brothers funding freedom-loving Libertarians = bad

Soros funding big govt socialists = good

Is that right, liberal media?

Democrats will invent any excuse to keep from admitting that their BS doesn’t work. Destroying America isn’t as easy as they though it was going to be.

----------------------

It wasn't enough to seize power by lying to good and honorable people. It wasn't enough to destroy the lives of millions of seniors by trashing the economy. It wasn't enough to control GM and shovel out 800 billion dollars in a union payoff. That's all bad enough, but then throw in the Obama apology tours and his hatred for America really comes out, trashing the very essence of the country, basically telling the world that history can now start, now that a lying corrupt thug who has never done a day's worth of his work in his life had somehow grabbed the controls of the greatest country that has every existed. This really irks us to no end.

Zer0 is going full speed to run America into bankruptcy. He and his morons have spent 2 trillion bucks and we got jack to show for it! Nothing will improve until Obama is removed from office. Businesses cannot make any moves due to the uncertainties of this administration.

The process starts in November 2010. Conservatives must capture at least one house of Congress. Two would be even better. Only in this way will the madness stop. But then Obama will freak and start issuing executive orders like a Caesar and that will cause a Constitutional crisis. Or an October surprise happens. That's when they will show how desperate they are.

A funny thing happened to Democrats on their way to total domination of American politics and unending super majority's.

Reality bit them in the A**

These passages from Daniel J. Boorstin's 1948, "The Lost World of Thomas Jefferson," might be interesting for Americans today, especially those who have observed this Administration's push for European-style socialism.

Boorstin says, on P. 177:

"In the predatory societies of Europe, Jefferson discerned the indelible characteristics of the whole species (human beings). His primary question was not what was the matter with European institutions, but what quality of the human animal had made such institutions possible. In 1787, Jefferson wrote from Paris:

"'Under pretence of governing, they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep. I do not exaggerate. This is a true picture of Europe. Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. Do not be too severe upon their errors, but reclaim them by enlightening them. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, Judgss and Governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature, in spite of individual exceptions; and experience declares that man is the only animal which devours his own kind; for I can apply no milder term to the governments of Europe. . . .'"

On P. 178, Boorstin states,
"More than once Jefferson reminded Washington that he (Washington) was not immortal, and that his successors would posses the normal human vices of ambition and avarice. There could be no insurance against the reappearance of Caesars and George IIIs. Jefferson refused to pin his hopes on the occasional success of honest and unambitious men . . . . Any government which made the welfare of men depend on the character of their governors was a delusion. This Jefferson observed in criticizing the imperfect separation of powers in the Virginia Constitution of 1776:

"'Mankind soon learn to make interested uses of every right and power which they possess, or may assume . . . With money we will get men, said Caesar, and with men we will get money. Nor should our asssembly be deluded by the integrity of their own purposes, and conclude that these unlimited powers will never be abused, because themselves are not disposed to abuse them. They should look forward to a time, and that not a distant one, when a corruption in this, as in the country from which we derive our origin, will have seized the heads of government, and be spread by them through the body of the people; when they will purchase the voices of the people, and make them pay the price. Human nature is the same on every side of the Atlantic, and will be alike influenced by the same causes. The time to guard against corruption and tyranny, is before they shall have gotten hold of us. It is better to keep the wolf out of the fold, than to trust to drawing his teeth and claws after he shall have entered." (Underlining added for emphasis)

One can conclude that this reasoning is the basis for Jefferson's praise for America's written Constitution for self-government--a Constitution by which "We, the People," according to him, were to "bind them (elected representatives) down by the chains of the Constitution."

Sadly, those who voted for this "hope" and "change" are finding that, perhaps, their voices were "purchased" and they are "pay(ing) the price."

It's because Washington is "broke," argues Todd Purdom in Vanity Fair

I believe Todd Purdom is the wife of former Clinton press flack Dee Dee Myers. Or maybe Dee Dee is the wife, it's one or the other.
