My fellow Americans - boy, are you fickle.
How else to explain the rising popularity of former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton?
Yes, President Obama has been mulligan-ing it up on Marthas Vineyard on what seems like his umpteenth vacation this year. The polls put his popularity at basement level. But must we pine for those other two clowns?
Guess so.
In its story The Resurgence of Bill Clinton Newsweek declared this week most Democrats would rather have (Clinton) campaign for them this fall than Obama. Worse, the former philanderer-in-chief is almost 10 points more popular among Americans than Obama, according to a July Gallup poll.
As for George W., the vilified 43rd POTUS isnt exactly prom king, but hes definitely at the dance. His popularity is up 10 points since he left office in 2009 to a 45 percent approval rating, according to Gallup.
In the past few days, Clinton was serenaded by Sir Paul McCartney on his 64th birthday and was feted in the Hamptons. Meanwhile, W. honored soldiers in Maine and political pundits beg him to weigh in on the Ground Zero mosque controversy.
As for the actual sitting president - his job approval rating is at 42 percent, and the Washington Post gave him its Worst Week in Washington prize Sunday. And he kind of stinks at golf.

Lauren assumes everyone is short memoried. Long memoried people pine for Reagan. But I'd take Clinton or Kennedy over this clown, who is clearly Carter class to long memoried folk.

4% unemployment rate vrs a 10% unemployement rate? $160 billion a year budget deficit as opposed to $164 billion deficit for the MONTH OF JULY 2010 alone. A growing vibrant economy vrs a stagnate shrinking economy etc etc etc
Maybe Lauren instead of feverishly defending the rabid incompetence of the Obama Democrats you might try stepping outside your little progressive fascist media bubble world and trying dealing in facts for a change.

Eisenhower wasn’t bad.
He was benign, as a POTUS, but he wasn’t bad.
Like others, though, my first choice for a former POTUS to return would be Reagan. Would that he only could!!

She's right about the fickleness. Remember that the Clintons left the White House with a handbag full of silverware and even Dem politicians and talking heads were happy to see the trailer trash leave town. Bush was a decent and honorable man but he was the reincarnation of a Rockefeller Republican with his spending and entitlement expansions. Quite frankly, we've gone through a period of mediocre presidents on both the Left and Right. It makes me pine for Reagan all the more.

Hussein does not compare to Carter. Carter was a dumb, antisemitic loser. At least Carter was an American born and bred. He served in the Navy under Rickover. Hussein is of dubious origin, I'm sure he loathes the US military. This guy is a muslim, Carter was a Christian. Hussein is a marxist, Carter is a socialist. Hussein is a racist, I don't think Carter is.
There is no comparison. There has never been a president like this one.

hmmmmm..... I smell a set up.... I’ve noticed that more and more the liberals are tying to bring Clintons back into the picture.... they probably think oboingo has a snowballs chance at re-election and it’s time to start introducing Hillary as the potential dem candidate to go against who ever the repub is..... what was it yesterday, Hillary looks moderate now? (well technically, compared to oboingo she does)

Jimmy Carter was a terrible president, but he is an honorable man. He has morals and integrity. He just was not presidential. Please, BO can’t even reach high enough to touch the soles of his feet.

Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II all paved the way for Zero. Bush II called Islam the religion of peace, started Ramadan dinners in the White House, and tried to get out ports run by an Islamic state. He called those who wanted secure borders vigilantes, pushed for amnesty, abandoned Ramos and Compean, did not veto McCain-Feingold, signed the first bailout, massively expanded the role of big government, pushed for Med D and No Child Left Behind, ... In short Bush II, like Clinton and Bush I was a NWO globalist.

I think this is exactly what is going on... Hilary was winning before the BO attack. I wonder if BO will even run? But I have no doubt it will be the Hil in 2012 running against the GOP.

In short Bush II, like Clinton and Bush I was a NWO globalIn short, DIVIDE AND CONQUER. OBAMA is the left's TRAITOR IN CHIEF, Bush was the right's TRAITOR IN CHIEF. Do you get it? No matter who is elected they are traitors.
There is no major difference in the two parties, it's only a matter of how fast we get there! Where's there? UN style world government.

Yes, one thing you can say about Carter is that he didn’t hate America, and wasn’t trying to actively destroy it.
He was just a liberal moron who didn’t understand why his policies didn’t work.
0bama’s policies ARE working.

The unstated and false premise behind this article is that zer0 is just as good as any other POTUS and we’re all just sentimental.
Hogwash. zer0 is awful, to put it mildly.
