Geez, folks!

I did NOT say to hide ALL your fire arms!

I said to get and hide your UNREGISTERED ones.

Imagine they have a list of all registered firearms. They know what you have, and where you live. You may not be home when they come to collect them. They may come to take them with overwhelming force. They may use incapacitating gas agents to remove your ability to resist. Whatever.

Imagine, therefore that they merely collect all your registered guns. They think they’ve got all you have, and if there was no shootout for some reason, and there is no legal reason to arrest you, they let you go. You might want to have some guns the authorities don’t know about to fall back on.

Imagine you are killed in the initial shit using your registered guns. Having a list, they are all confiscated. Your wife and children are left alive, but unarmed. Having some unregistered guns buried off-site would keep them armed if they so chose. Some trusted neighbors that you informed before the shit might also be able to make use of them.

It’s called contingency planning, back-up plans, “action on”. If all you have is registered, readily available guns and ammo, your options may be quite limited, especially if you or your loved ones survive the initial confiscation.

The idea of a Federal takeover, followed by an active resistance movement, is another consideration, well delineated in “Total Resistance” by Major H. von Dach, “The Swiss Army guide to guerrilla warfare and underground operations.” The resistance will do better initially with a few weapons in reserve that were not seized, from which they can plan ops to get more.

If we all go out in a blaze of glory trying our best against troops and LEOs whose life work and daily practice it is to kill or contain people like us, and who come much better armed and organized and trained than we will ever be, then we will have accomplished little more than the Charge of the Light Brigade. We will be like the “dumb bastard” in Patton’s quote, who never won a war dying for our country. It might be better to use deception, usually a key element in military victory.

Do we want to win, or do we want to make a statement?

Thanks for your well-reasoned response.

I suppose I'm one of the few who have nothing left to lose except my life's breath and the loss of that will be hastened by the first wave of 'gun collectors.' but hopefully not before I'm able to knock off at least one traitorous legislator or uniformed individual who has violated their solemn oath to protect my rights.

When that day comes it will be early in their move to confiscate weapons so I'll need all my guns on line, registered or not. God help the poor bastard who dares to come to my door with a phoney warrant.

One day it would be nice to know that thousands and thousands across the country stand up to say, “I AM HENRY BOWMAN!”

Say a prayer for Tolik whose last post was on Feb. 26, IIRC. I'm afraid Tolik has gone to a better place.

Prayers up.

As if that would stop criminals from buying a gun.

It matters not whether your guns are registered or unregistered. The whole point and purpose of having ANY firearm is to protect yourself and your family from grievous harm, and to maintain the force necessary to dislodge a tyrannical government, should it ever become necessary for the continued survival of the nation.

You think if you stand down and turn over your registered firearms that the storm troopers won't turn over every rock to find any others you might have? Think again.

The right thing to do is to begin making face to face alliances with others who intend to fight back, should the unthinkable happen.

Come on, man - think this through with me. For instance:

1. To thoroughly search the grounds of 100 million registered gun owners, there would need to be many bazillions of storm troopers. There probably are not, but if there ARE that many, then why would you think your little alliances would prevail against their numbers, their training, their organized and coordinated tactics, and their logistical superiority anyway?

2. Bury them off-site. (No brainer).

3. If you have only one rifle, one shot gun, and one pistol, then certainly keep them with you. If you have more of each, then what are you gonna do with them anyway? Most people I know have tons of guns, more than they could reasonably tote into battle - why not bury a few off site that you bought unregistered?

4. This thread started over an article about a plan by the gun grabbers to close the private sale loophole at gunshows. WHY do you think they want to stop this? Why would they want every last gun registered? What is it about an unregistered gun, such that they at least want to control that, even if they can't get the full monty done yet?

5. Alliances are a good idea, especially if informal, and therefore not easily disrupted ahead of time. But, if they cannot quite quickly BECOME formally organized after the SHTF, then they will be no match for those who ARE organized. And trained. And experienced. And mobile. And well-supplied. And with superior communications. And with superior weaponry. I doubt an uncoordinated rabble of alliances will stand much of a chance without turning to guerrilla tactics as a primary modality, and guerrilla tactics require much stealth and deception, and hidden caches of weapons are an important component of that.

Let me again reference “Total Resistance,” with a quote from page 104, a sub-heading (under the larger heading of “Operations of the Resistance Movement”) titled, “Concealment of Weapons and Ammunition from The Enemy”:

“In practically every Swiss household you will find weapons and ammunition.

“They must be removed from the reach of the enemy when the country is occupied. . . .

“Keep these weapons until guerrilla detachments or the resistance movement needs them.

“The best method for concealing weapons is by burying them. . . .”

And then it goes on to describe the best way to protect the weapons for burial.

I also think the book, “How Wars are Won”, by Bevin Alexander, and the cleverly insightful little tome, “How to Stage a Military Coup,” by David Hebditch and Ken Connor shed interesting light on matters germane to the future that probably lies before us. It is NOT unthinkable, Windflier, but certain ways to fight back may be more likely to succeed than others.

You protest far too much on such a simple point.

Should the unthinkable come, you will either stand and fight, or you will not.

Hide your guns. Stand down to the storm troopers. Pray for a miracle.

“Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves.”

Sir Winston Churchill

“...All of those hundreds of millions of guns were all lost in unfortunate accidents involving lakes and streams...”

Do you really think that that will be accepted as the reason for your not having the guns when the jackboots come calling? Or will they start digging up your property with their superduper metal detectors?

Or are you just kidding?

Do you how many guns there are in the United States? No you don’t, because no one does. They’re not registered yet. Do you think booted fascists have superpowers? NO they don’t. They won’t have enough foot soldiers to take the guns away in a city, let alone the entire country. And once they try, good luck to them with their “superduper” metal detectors, especially way back in the country.

I won’t argue that there will not be sufficient troops and LEOs to make a round-up of guns held in civilian hands. But there indeed are metal detectors that the feds have that are not on the civilian market (I cannot provide chapter and verse on this but from I’ve read, they do exist and they have but one purpose, to ferret out hidden weapons. And, oh yes, they would shine in rural areas, where some people would try to bury their guns).

What made me post was that “joke” that keeps popping on FR, to which you gave voice, that “Oops, sorry, officer but my guns were lost in a tragic boating accident.” If it was funny at the beginning, it’s worn off any humor it may—and I accent “may”—have had at the beginning.

No - what you did, is try to convince me and others that cowardice and surrender are the wisest course of action in the face of tyranny.

Charge on, mindless Light Brigade. Die for your country rather than fighting smart and winning the war. Over and out.

You're right. We should all turn in our guns and surrender to Big Brother. What a brilliant plan to win the war for our country!

You know, the German people turned in their guns to the Nazi government in the late 1930s. How'd that work out for them?

You’re kinda thick, aren’t you? I don’t believe I said to turn in your guns, or surrender, or anything like that.

What a moron.

And besides a moron, a very self-centered one. If I heard you correctly, it seems you are more interested in puffed up chest thumping and macho posturing and strident self-promotion in the role of some sort of uber warrior, than anything else. It’s not about you, moron, it’s not about your bravery, not about boosting your self-esteem by imagining your heroic role in the great battle. It’s actually about winning, and restoring our Constitutional Republic for future generations.

I feel like I’m arguing with a liberal. Which is a waste of time. A Dios.
