PRUDEN: Obama's flimflammery in the name of faith
Washington Times ^ | 8/16/10 | Wes Pruden

Barack Obama, like all flimflam men, is a master of words. But unlike the best of the flimflam men, he can't keep his stories straight.

Here he was on Friday night last, speaking about the ground zero mosque to a dinner at the White House celebrating Ramadan: "Let me be clear: As a citizen and as president I believe that Muslims have the same right … to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan. … This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable."

Who argues with that? But here he was the next day, when reporters accompanying him to his dip in the Gulf of Mexico asked him about his Ramadan remarks: "I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making a decision to put a mosque there."

Here's the White House later in the day insisting that the president was not backing off the original remarks, or even backing off from his backing off: "The president is not backing off in any way from the comments he made [Friday night]."

Obama is having a mega-macaca moment. Were he smart, and he has shown he is not, he would follow Pruden's advice in this column.

I agree that Rosa Parks had a right to sit in the front of the bus, but I'm not going to comment on the wisdom of her refusing to do so... /s

George W. Bush was guilty of pandering to Muslim entitlement, too
True. But I can't imagine W getting it so wrong on this issue.

You have the right to build your mosque wherever you want, subject to local zoning ordinances, but you will get along better with your neighbors if you show them the respect that you demand for yourselves. Building this mosque near ground zero is regarded by most Americans as offensive to the memory of 3,000 Americans killed, however wrongly, in the name of Islam."

Islam does not have the right to build. It is a theocracy and not a religion.

It's basic tenet is the overthrow of our EARTHLY form (not heavenly) of government by violent means (jihad), once a warning has been delivered (dawa). Our Constitution Republic is then to be replaced by their Islamic theocracy.

So, nice idea, Wes, that those wanting to be good neighbors wouldn't be doing annoying things to their neihbors, but you are dead wrong on some "right" for their theocracy to be treated as if an enemy can use our rules about religious freedom as a subterfuge to violate the very Constitution they are attempting to manipulate..

And I don't give a rat's ass what the glitterati sophists have to say about this argument. It is dead on, no matter how much they attempt to wrap themselves in some kind of pluralistic open-mindedness.

It’s no different than the ‘official’ campaign. He’s still saying different things.....depending on the audience.

When do you think he will wake up from his dream of being all things to all men?

Did this piece of garbage every one time speak up for having a nativity scene on public property?

Prayer in school?

etc.

Never, not a single time. But suddenly he’s all for religious freedom??????????

Wes Pruden has a (sometimes) humorous way of telling everyone precisely where the bear defacated in the buckwheat! He used to publish some real zingers back when Slick Willie was desecrating the Oval Office.

I can definitely picture Pres. Bush coming out in support of the beside-the-point point that 0bama made, about “freedom of religion;” thereby secondarily supporting the TraitorOTUS. Sadly, I can most definitely picture him doing that. GWB is always reaching across the aisle; he never tires of this classic RINO behavior.

It’s a case of pearls to swines. 911 is a symbol of an islamic religion’s attack on the world and other religions, and it is really stupid to grant a wish to a pimped “moderate” islam at best; and irresponsible religious leaders and dubious vague religious mandates at the site of a terror attack whose origination emmanated from the same type of shallow moral relativism is completely insane, to the level of the death wish.

It’s like building a temple of soddomy at the site where people have been buried by AIDS.
