The economy and the Internet have taken their toll on newspapers around the country and after years of layoffs and cutbacks, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is no exception.
Now, the paper is saying they need more cuts just to stay afloat.
At 11:15 a.m., 30 editors and reporters staged a walkout in protest of concessions that the company now wants.
Those concessions include 30 reporters and editors taking voluntary retirements by the end of the week, or else they will begin laying off people themselves.

Libtards, yet again demonstrating their lack of understanding of basic economics.
They create a product that no one uses in a way that few people want, and their response is not to improve their product, but to throw a temper tantrum over their entitlements.
Those concessions include 30 reporters and editors taking voluntary retirements by the end of the week, or else they will begin laying off people themselves.
Sounds as though they "found" the 30 volunteers they needed for the layoffs.
I think local people would read newspapers at least on Sundays if they were not bombarded with left wing propaganda. Too late now. I think after Obama won - most people cancelled everything. If they cancelled sat & cable TV then we would have some power. Instead - TV controls the public. Obama can do anything he wants thanks to TV/Hollywood.
The smart ones will retire and roll over their retirement funds into a private account while there is still money in them.
Just like the French and the Greeks...
And now us...
Leftest thought is poison to society.
I think it’s time we execute anyone who attempts suicide. That’ll teach ‘em!
I wish the data supported that, but they don't. Conservative papers tend to go under before liberal ones. Look at Cincy, Dencer, Philly, etc. People don't support solid local papers--the interest just isn't there.
Brilliant strategy! "Too many of us are losing our jobs so we will ALL not work!"
“Reporters Throw Rocks Into Sinking Ship; Demand It Stay Afloat!”
Sorta like when the toll collectors went on strike for the Pennsylvania Turnpike, many people decided to get E-ZPass so they needed fewer toll collectors.
That’s one big ROFLOL!
Hey, we have some volunteers!
Can’em Dano.
I wonder how the Tribune Review is keeping their staff happy.
Richard Mellon Scaife must have a different philosophy than the owners of that other rag.
To be frank, even the Sunday paper became irrelevant to me back in the last century. But you’ll notice I’ve been a member here since 1998. I dumped TV in 97 so I had to get my news from SOMEWHERE. I discovered the internet as a reliable INTERNATIONAL source quite a while ago and never looked back.
Print news has been an irrelevance to me since the mid-1990’s. It’s not even good for doctors offices any more, now that I have the internet on my phone.
Compared to the internet, print news is what we used to call "history".
I like history, but when I want that, I buy a book.
Perfect example of liberal stupidity.
