FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (Illegal to grow your own food)

Posted on 08/07/2010 6:47:50 PM PDT by Scythian

This bill was considered in committee which has recommended it be considered by the Senate as a whole. Although it has been placed on a calendar of business, the order in which legislation is considered and voted on is determined by the majority party leadership. Keep in mind that sometimes the text of one bill is incorporated into another bill, and in those cases the original bill, as it would appear here, would seem to be abandoned.

Jul 15, 2010 8:16 PM - So the term “facility” does not apply to farms, restaurants, or other retail food establishments; would it, for example, apply to a farm that has packing sheds on it’s property? My family’s farm has a pistachio shed and a shed in which we pack asparagus and melons, are these areas then covered under the law by definition of the word “facility”?

Jul 10, 2010 9:01 PM - What is the constitutional basis for the federal government to monitor and control small farms that are not shipping product across state lines?

FDA: COREXIT = very good, everyone must eat it in shellfish

VITAMINS = bad, must be controlled. To obtain them,
you and your children now need prescriptions
controlled, of course, by monthly federal melanin quotas.

Wait a minute!

Michele has HER garden.

Oh, I forgot, the serfs can't have that.

The serfs don't need “sustainable” life alternatives like the Obama’s have, for FUN!

I suppose my goofy county in NJ must shut down the "community garden".

I’m sure special juices could be prepared as vitamin supplements all made from items certifiable as food. They would cost an arm and a leg, though.

IIRC this passed the House in the Spring of 2009. I know it, or something like it passed almost immediately after the election. I thought since it had been shelved so long, it might be dead, and praying it would be so. These dictators will never be satisfied. May God help us all, and that’s a plea, not hyperbole!

Why not kill two birds with one stone and add vitamins to Corexit?

With these zombiemeisters, nothing can be considered quite dead. Everything seems to have its Halloween.

The argument is basically that if, say, you are feeding your own chickens with your own wheat, you are not buying the feed in interstate commerce, and that affects the price of wheat in interstate commerce. (I didn’t say it was a reasonable argument.) Google Stanley Yankus.

The thing is, where is the outcry from the greenies who supposedly believe in these little bitty personalized organic farmer’s markets? Have they laid their green down on the altar to become a burnt sacrifice to the Bummer?

It’s time to start over again. The entire Destruction Center needs to be obliterated. Congress and the Senate are approving the most ridiculous Bills imaginable. Lets take out the UN while we’re at it.

Thank goodness! I had to read the entire bill, but I guess I’m safe.

I thought they found out about the bowl of Cheerios I eat each morning while I’m sitting in the “facility”.

Hey...I’m just multi-tasking. The newspaper is even spread out on the floor in front of me...I turn the pages with my feet.

I hereby swear before God and all the world, that if the day ever comes when an official from the government shows up at my house to tell me I cannot grow my own food I will kill them and every other son of bitch agent that shows up until they have killed me. I will not live in a world where Nancy Pelosi and the other worthless sacks of shit in government decide I cannot grow food on my own property.

I had a lib argue that to me at a party. I said that if it comes down to that with me, "F it, I'll kill them or they will kill me."

At which point the hostess, a retired doc that happens to be a lib, chimed in that if they try to make her put chips in her chickens, she feels the same way.

Lots of common folks are done.

And pretty pissed-off.

I raise my own chickens off form the back of my labor-IE oats etc. Let em try to stop me. I triple dog dare them.

Lets see if they can dodge the lead sent after them. I’ll be Dammed if I will let them try and tell me what the heck I can do concerning me raising my own food.

This has been hotly debated on a gardening forum I belong to. You wouldn't believe the people who think it's a good idea. “It will keep us safe, level the playing field.” And “It won't be that much more paper work for farmers markets.” Their belief in big government dumbfounds me.

16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or[a] the name of the beast, or the number of his name. - Revelation 13:16-17

Let’s see, make it illegal to grow your own food or for a small group of people to run a co-op. This makes you have to buy all your food. No one can buy or sell without the mark, or else...

Things are happening in increments.

Of course this is what you also get when we as a country seem to have made the job of lawmaker a career profession for some.
