S/he doesn’t deserve a penny. He had left it and his kids should get his estate.

Her parents’ claim seems odd, given the male name they used, though the “diagnosis” comment might just be weasel words.

The firefighter has children. They should get his estate. Read the whole article.

The estate should go to the the firefighters kids - plain and simple. The “wife” was only around a short time, and on top of that she obviously lied about her gender change.

Now if the firefighter knew about the gender issue before the marriage, things would be different. But becoming married through deception should disqualify her for spouse’s rights.

I read it. The lawyer brought this up by showing the name-change request and birth certificate, but why? What drove him to the discovery? Surely not idle research on a slow afternoon at the law practice...

What drove him to the discovery?

As the article said, Araguz found out "it's a man, baby" and left the person.

So a guy can have a sex change and marry and live with his/her wife as a lesbian couple, but a guy can’t marry someone who had a sex change to become a woman.

O, what a bizarre world.

You’re still not answering.

What led their lawyer to tell him that?

What’s bizarre is that you seem to think same sex and transgender is normal.

Answering what? Why would you think that I have anymore info than the articles do?!

What led their lawyer to tell him that?

What? What led whose lawyer to say what? What are you asking? All the info that there is is in the two articles posted.

The lawyer probably took one look at the thing claiming to be the dead guys “wife” and knew to check.

Out of the blue? After two years of marriage?

Nice swipe at a dead hero...claiming his wife was a "thing" that he should have known from one look.

The Texas law is very strange, and ripe for game-playing by homo lawyers. It considers “born male” to be always male - and that means male chromosomes only, not genitalia. That will clearly mean this “widow” won’t get a dime. But it also enabled a man who got a sex change to become a woman to have a Lesbian “wedding” 2 years ago and be A-Ok according to TX law (because he was born with male chromosomes).

From the article...

“Thomas Araguz had two children from a prior marriage. In their lawsuit, Araguz’s parents argue that his children should be the sole beneficiaries of his estate, which will be substantial because he died in the line of duty.

Attorneys for the parents of Thomas Araguz said the firefighter separated from Nikki Araguz, whom he married in August 2008, about three months ago after learning about her past.”

The Children get the money. Period. Letter of the law says that she was born a man, no same sex marriage in TX. The Grandparents are fighting for the kids.
