Rahm on the Run

Democratic insiders say Rahm Emanuel will leave shortly after the mid-term elections.

President Obama and Rahm Emanuel, his controversial chief of staff, may be parting ways. London's Daily Telegraph newspaper reports that Democratic insiders say Mr. Emanuel will leave shortly after the mid-term elections.

Differences in style between the cerebral Mr. Obama and the confrontational Mr. Emanuel are said to have played a role. In addition, Mr. Emanuel is reported to be frustrated at the inability of the White House to "knock heads together" to fashion political compromises.

Mr. Obama sent a signal by choosing the respected but hard-charging member of the Congressional leadership almost immediately after his 2008 victory to become his top aide. Mr. Emanuel had a reputation as a tough partisan but was also known to exhibit impatience with left-wing members of his party who have overly ambitious ideological agendas.

I thought that was Rahm's job in the first place. So in leaving, he is admitting his own failure. Too bad, Rahmbo. Don't let the door hit you in the tu-tu on the way out.

“...the cerebral Mr. Obama ...”

Ok so the myth continues that Obama is some kind of great brain....and then I noticed that the Wall Street Journal did not refer to the president as president - they called him Mr. Obama....wishful thinking?

During last year's health care debate, Mr. Emanuel famously argued for a less sweeping health care plan than the one that ultimately passed. He lost that argument to David Axelrod, the White House's chief strategist, and Valerie Jarrett, Mr. Obama's old friend from Chicago.

This might be a good thing as Rahm could have kept Obama in for another term had Obama followed his measured advice. Obama is as radical as Pelosi and just as toxic.

If Mr. Emanuel does step down, many will suspect that his advice to trim back ObamaCare was the beginning of the end of his power in the White House.

I can't imagine John Fund believes this, so I assume he's trying to stir up the moonbats and let them further damage the Democratic party.

Rahm needs to go ahead and pick his seat under the bus. It’s getting close to capacity.

I laugh at the attempts to portray the administration as hapless and incompetent. In less than two years, they have consciously and methodically put in place infrastructure that will ruin America for decades to come, perhaps they have ended America as it existed.

They have added 1 trillion a year to the deficit for many many years. They have socialized medicine. They have repealed Clinton’s welfare reform. Socialized student loans. Taken over GM. And on and on. Rahm has done his damage. All 0 has to do is run out the clock for 2 1/2 more years until America gets bored with the idea of reversing this damage and that team has been more transformational than any president since LBJ or FDR. It is astonishing the sheer volume of evil they have accomplished.

It's beginning to look like some of his crimes will be exposed in the Blagovich trial...he may be out sooner than they're planning. Obama has a mighty big bus and I think Rahm has a tire with his name on it.

between the cerebral Mr. Obama

John Fund mis-spelled "syphilitic", or possibly "psychotic".

A political animal like Rahm does not give up a cushy WH post unless there's a good reason. Have to remember couple crucial points about Rahm:

(1) Rahm's entree into the top echelons of govt are paved with his past victories: 4-term Congressman Rahm was beatified as the man who masterminded the Congress and WH takeover.

Rahm chaired the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee 2006-07 and ran the laughingly-named "Our Common Values PAC" in 2005 (as if Dems have values).

Rahm had Dems winning in solid Republican districts running as "true believers." Maoist Ohaha said things like, "I want to be another Reagan."

Now judging by the huge Dem losses to date---and the losses foreseen for 2010-12-----Rahm gets the blame he well deserves.

(2) Rahm's first moves as COS: (a) takeover of US Treasury activities including the $14 trillion bailout, (b) putting his brother in charge of the Medicare/Aid billions which includes billions from OhahaCare, and (c) takover of the census.

Rahm's a former Wall Streeter and Goldman Sachs toadie. Wall Street can make money disappear faster than a cream puff at a Weight Watchers weigh-in.

Rahm has so much gov't money socked away, he can live like the Sultan of Brunei and/or buy himself any office he wants.
