Where is the link to this article?
And how much aussie taxpayer money and effort went to her “rescue”?
No...she is a child and has no business alone on the high seas...as evidenced.
Try some decaf.
Your brain inside out, didn’t help.
If Abby is your litmus test, you need to get out more.
The Abby threads are almost like the Crevo threads.
Liked this post and have made posts about how many of our soldiers in this nation’s history have been 16. And how many parents hand their “children” a vehicle and cell phone and send them out on the road with us all. Somehow these “children” are responsible when they have not shown anyone they are, and this young girl DOES show she is and is slammed for it.
Very sad.
Wow you’ve been here for less than 2 years and think a vanity like this in breaking news is good?
Wha? You mean piloting an account on FR and critiquing doers is not living life to its fullest?!?!?!?
Bingo.
Oh yeah? Here’s my theory.
Her parents though that putting her on a boat 1000 miles from the nearest male was likely to be more effective than a chastity belt.
So there.
I see some of your points, but there was no need to be insulting and offensive towards those who disagree.
You may also have pointed out that another 16 year old did make it around the world.
Australian Teen Becomes Youngest Person to Sail Solo Around the World
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/05/15/australian-teen-youngest-person-sail-world/
May 15: Sixteen-year-old Jessica Watson waves as she sails past the finish line at the entrance to Sydney Harbour in Sydney, Australia, capping off a nearly 23,000 nautical miles voyage.
A 16-year-old Australian who spent seven months at sea in her pink yacht sailed across the finish line of her round-the-world journey Saturday, becoming the youngest sailor to circle the globe solo, nonstop and unassisted.
Watson, from Buderim, north of Brisbane in Queensland state, sailed out of Sydney on Oct. 18 despite protests by critics that she was too immature and inexperienced for the treacherous journey. Her parents maintained that she was well-prepared and noted she has been sailing since the age of 8.
When it comes to someone like Abby -- home-schooled, born-again Christian and probably conservative, intelligent, motivated, skilled -- then the reporters become born-again budget hawks, fretting so, lamenting so pitiably, about the funding for the rescue effort. These same reporters never had qualms about billions and trillions being shoved down socialistic rat-holes. Billions for welfare, but not one cent for achievement!
Bravo I say, and Bravo I say again, to this magnificent young lady and to her parents for giving the world such a child.
Great post, thank you.
I admit, I hadn’t thought it through to that point. I have stayed off the Abby threads because of all the silly, impotent indignation that is typical for *some* Freepers.
I hope that it least makes some of them think. I doubt it will though. LOL.
Well and truly said.
What if there were more like Abby? We should be so lucky.
Thousands of girls her age are going to die in wasted, pointless ways... if only they had a little bit of what this girl has, they might not.
The same thoughts ran through my mind as I read the comment on the other Abby threads.
I am an adventurer, I also have a day job...but the day job does not reflect the soul that God gave me. I have been running hills, mountains, rivers, and lakes by myself for day long and multi-day trips since I was 13.
If I was not smack dab in middle of the lower 48, I would have probably played out in the ocean more as well.
I applaud this young ladies efforts and adventures. This represents freedom. More people should follow the lead of individuals like this IMHO.
B Cool,
I’m with you Talisker. Personally, I believe that Abby and her family probably prepared for this epic journey the best they could. It is evident to me that Abby is more than mature enough to make such an attempt. I guess these other folks would rather the record go to some turd world country. How many “children” around the country get killed in auto accidents? Should we bar them from getting into cars?
You folks out there will be great parents while the leftists and media herd you and your children to their “safe” locations. For the good of YOUR children...
Abby Sunderland (and family) are, to me, American heroes for trying.
Thank you for the post. You have it right!
Troll much? Or would you just like a little cheese with that whine?
So is it your position that a few "pants pissing" posters with multiple FR accounts are responsible for most of the posts criticizing Abby's family?
