President Obama is open to the idea of Puerto Rico becoming a state, Associate Attorney General Thomas Perrelli said at a meeting of a task force devoted to issues related to the U.S. commonwealth.

"The president strongly believes that the status question is a significant one" Perrelli said at this week's meeting of the President's Puerto Rico Task Force. "He also believes that Puerto Rico's status must be based on self-determination by the people of Puerto Rico. And we on the task force are here with open minds on this issue."

Perrelli co-chairs the task force and attended on behalf of the administration. His complete remarks can be read here.

Obama is hell bent to stack the electorate, just as FDR tried to do with the Supreme Court by expanding it (and appointing) new justices. The American people will not re-elect Obama. He needs new dedicated voters.

I would be in favor of this under one condition...we swap Puerto Rico in for CA, which we can give part and parcel to Mexico...along with their state debt. Deal?

Gee. This is such a surprise ... not.

Several others including Glenn Beck have predicted this for quite some time now.

Why doesn’t he annex Mexico too while he’s at it? Hell, most of its citizens are in this country anyway.

Why would they want to become the 51st state ?

They received 100’s of millions of dollars from us. The were the biggest benefactor in the stimulus package.

Also, don’t they(the residents)get a deal on income taxes ?
Someone please clarify.

That jackass in the Oval Office would be open to the Gaza Strip being another USA state.

When are the Liberals going to connect the dots with the Kenyan ineligible to be President of the USA?

Yes, and this morning Glenn Beck predicted that the U.S. Virgin Islands would be next. More voters for Dems.

Most Puerto Ricans are still below the poverty level so any deals on income taxes don’t really mean a lot.
