Tonight we can see a concerted effort by the New York Times and other Mainstream media attributing their stories to the New York Times, to destroy the political career of Richard Blumenthal, the Democratic candidate for the US Senate from Connecticut.
I assume the claims are accurate, and Blumenthal lied about serving in Vietnam and about being captain of his swim team at Harvard.
We know that Blumenthal is despicable, as we saw him work hand in glove with ACORN to coerce private businesspeople into returning their compensation bonuses.
My question is this: The New York Times is an agenda-driven newspaper, and as despicable as Blumenthal's behavior is, he is neither the first Democrat to lie about his military service (consider Tom Harkin of Iowa and John Kerry of Massachusetts), nor is the first candidate to lie about or whitewash his biography (consider Barack Obama).
Why is The New York Times coming out with this article? Why are other news media following up so assiduously? Who benefits by taking Blumenthal out of the race? Is there another Democrat who is orchestrating his own chance to run in Blumenthal's place?
If Leftists are going after him there is no doubt at all it is agenda driven. It is going to be real interesting to see how this pans out. He, of course, is toast, at this point he might as well be a Republican. All of Leftdom will gather their evil forces to do him in.
Maybe they thought the story was going to come out anyway, and by putting it out this early they would give their guy sufficient time to spin it prior to the election.
You are wise to be suspicious of there motives, no doubt a hidden agenda.
The Democrats have always had the discipline not to turn on their own. They are far to petty and ruthless to do this solely out of compassion. This is rule that must be externally enforced, like a mafia code. If they really are turning on Blumenthal, it must be due to two factors. First, all the major Democrats had to agree. Second, this has to be part of some major play. My guess is that they are taking out their own wounded candidate early so as to have a better chance in the general election. They must all be sincerely worried about their chances of holding on to a majority in the Senate this Fall.
So does Blumenthal have a Democrat challenger in the primary? Is that who the NYT is trying to help?
Obama winning in 2012 is their biggest motivation from now until then and everything they do is based towards that.
Good question. We will find out in due course.
I believe the deadline to nominate someone else is friday, rather short notice. Sounds like this was not planned or ... ?
Obviously, the Times is giving the Democrats enough time to clean up their act and get a better candidate in order to win in this Blue state. If he was a Republican they’d sit on it all until the middle of October and release when it would do the most harm.
The RATs will have another candidate (maybe even entice Dodd back) before Memorial Day. This was an intervention.
Bingo!
That was my first thought too.
The Slimes never does stuff like this without an agenda.

This guy?
NYT endorsed him and he interned with Dodd.
Interesting. Thanks for the information. I guess we’ll find out within a few weeks.
All the theories presented here are possible. Unfortunately, because we do not have anyone inside the hidden circle of the Democommie party we can’t know what is going on.
Here is another theory: Bluementhal was going to betray them somehow so they decided to out him. Maybe they threatened to reveal this secret if he didn’t go along with them and for some reason he thought he could face them down.
He might even have secret hidden knowledge about Obama’s true place of birth he was threatening to reveal.
The good news is that it has the look and feel of desperation. As others have suggested, it sounds like the Dems and their MSM lackeys are extremely worried about November.
Blumenthal fallout has immediate impact; Murphy seen as replacement candidate
Yes, it does.
It reminds me of the NJ senate campaign when Frank Lautenberg was brought in after the deadline to replace Robert Torricelli. In that case the NJ Supreme Court, to its eternal disgrace, upheld this blatant violation of the law.
See post no. 17.
You are good. You are really good.
No way will the rats tolerate somebody lying about being the captain of their swim team .
