Jeb Bush speaks out against Ariz. law

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is speaking out against the new hard-line immigration law in Arizona, becoming the first prominent national Republican to do so.

"I think it creates unintended consequences," he said in a telephone interview with POLITICO Tuesday. "It's difficult for me to imagine how you're going to enforce this law. It places a significant burden on local law enforcement and you have civil liberties issues that are significant as well."

The measure, signed into law last Friday, would require police to check the immigration status of any individuals they reasonably suspect are illegal immigrants and arrest them if they can't prove legal status.

Bush said he understood the anger that prompted the bill, but that immigration should remain a federal issue.

I know we’re going to hear how everyone is a “RINO” but truly conservative senate candidates is going to become a very lonely club if we base it on this law.

If you give the vote to all these illegals no more conservatives will ever hold office.

This is the time of decision. When those times come upon you, it is best to do the right thing. When you do the right thing there is always hope for the future.

If you are here legally, then you have NOTHING to worry about! Can't believe how many people fail to see the similarities to sobriety check lanes or random searches at the airport.

As for Bush, shut up, Jeb. We don't want you or any other Bush folk in the future.

I agree. I think Reagan was forced to accept him by the party to have a balanced ticket. I’m sure Bush bucks and the bucks of his globalist buddies helped him.

I really loath the Bushes.

**************************************

As do I. Their proxy is Romney, IMO.

They completely destroyed all that conservatives accomplished from Goldwater to Reagan.

I agree, we now have taxation without representation.

we have preferences under the law by slave owners who profit from the status quo.

we are back to a slave/enslaved society based on the whims of an elected entrenched aristocracy of DC and wall street.

I don’t disagree with the law. C’mon, read my whole post. I do say there are good people who have legitimate concerns. The law still apparently FITS the needs of Arizona. Hell, when 70% of the people agree with it, you know it is a popular move.

The cops in Arizona will on the whole, I am sure, apply this law appropriately and not get carried away. I do have a good friend of Cuban descent who thinks it might be abused. I don’t think it WILL be abused.

Americans are NOT RACISTS, and this law gives a GREAT CHANCE to prove that...

Wveryone here had better look up Jeb’s(and George’s) granddad “Prescott Bush” to see what the family’s POS legacy is. Prescott Bush was a N/E liberal MAGGOT!

As opposed to what, a Southern segregationist maggot of those days?

Prescott Bush was a moderate Republican in a conservative time. He supported defense programs and the moderate civil rights proposals of the day and opposed deficit spending and free trade.

He left the Senate in 1963, before our current political divide opened up. If Bush had stayed on and voted for Johnson's Great Society programs your abuse might have a point, but as it is, it doesn't.

Maybe Bush loved birth control more than he should have, but he comes across as a decent, respectable Republican in a much quieter time. Blaming him for what his grandchildren do is just stupid.

Crist is horrible but Rubio is just a younger Mel Martinez who is also backed by the Bush klan.

I would love to see a Tea Party candidate beat Crist and Rubio. Rubio sucks as much as Crist.

Crist is going to run as an independent. I would bank on it.

I guess I don’t understand what you mean. Do you think that the Federal Government should pass a law requiring that everyone carry proof of citizenship at all times?

I'm about fed up with this crap! These "republican leaders" must realize that blanket amnesty will assure that the marxist democrats remain in power permenentely. It will be the end of conservative influence in government.

They are selling us out!

Yes, Rubio has fooled a lot of people....and I still cannot understand why Rubio gets more support nationally than JD Hayworth does. I am familiar with both their backgrounds....Rubio is more liberal....and more corrupt (Hayworth-Abramoff is nothing compared to Rubio running up the GOP Credit Cards).

Hopefully people will start realizing Rubio is not the conservative people think he is....and he is not any more conservative than Chuck Loafers is....

I never gave Rubio a plug nickel because I suspected he was pro-amnesty aka Mel Martinez 2.

The Bush klan gave us Mel and wanted a new Mel - enter Rubio. I suspected this.

I donated to JD Hayworth and will send more. I told Rubio to stop sending me his email crap. I got some of his garbage in the mail that I think I saved and will return it on his dime.

Amnesty Rubio. Another open-borders RINO.

If Crist had an IQ over 20 he would have remained or become a Repub but he is a RINO/Dem mole. It makes me sick but if it comes down to Rubio or Crist - I will (gag) have to vote Crist.

Rubio’s last minute unmasking as pro-amnesty Mel Martinez 2 will hopefully sink him. Rubio was just gonna try to slip by. He is a fake.

"I have concerns with the police stopping people because they “look like illegals”.

Come on now, you know better than that! The law doesn't allow police to stop someone because they "look like an illegal". Police have to have reasonable suspicion that someone is an illegal scumbag alien in order to merely ask someone about their citizenship status, and that's only after they have been stopped for some other violation!

Don't repeat CommieLib propaganda; the lamestream media already have that job.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Jeb Bush and his brother failed to sell any compromise. Now he should shut up. He isn’t helping.

I am gonna send JD another check and I am going to call Crist’s campaign tomorrow.

I loathe Crist but Rubio looks very very BAD. Rubio will vote for AMNESTY in a second. Crist might not.

Near the beginning of the show, Brit Hume had a commentary that said the Arizona law is identical to existing Federal law, and he saw no hope for amnesty this year, because the American people must see proof that the border is sealed first.

Yes, Jeb’s wife is Hispanic. She also is a smuggler. She smuggled $10,000 worth of designer clothes into this country - AND GOT CAUGHT! That says a lot about the level of integrity.
