Jeb Bush speaks out against Ariz. law

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is speaking out against the new hard-line immigration law in Arizona, becoming the first prominent national Republican to do so.

"I think it creates unintended consequences," he said in a telephone interview with POLITICO Tuesday. "It's difficult for me to imagine how you're going to enforce this law. It places a significant burden on local law enforcement and you have civil liberties issues that are significant as well."

The measure, signed into law last Friday, would require police to check the immigration status of any individuals they reasonably suspect are illegal immigrants and arrest them if they can't prove legal status.

Bush said he understood the anger that prompted the bill, but that immigration should remain a federal issue.

The last paragraph says that Marco Rubio has also come out in opposition to the bill. "Rubio, whose parents were Cuban immigrants, said the legislation could 'unreasonably single out people who are here legally, including many American citizens.'"

I know the GOP is beyond stupid, but you would think these people would at least have the common sense to keep their mouths shut.

The “unintended consequences” of not passing it are more American deaths.

ok so put procedures to ensure legals are ok.

ALL ALIENS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE ID. You have to have your green card or 1-94 with you when in the USA.

Police randomly single out people and check their sobriety then arrest them if they suspect they are intoxicated. Oh and you lose your license if you won’t give testimony against yourself. i.e The Breathalyzer.

No more Bushes. I voted for W twice; I’m glad I did; George was much better than Obama; I’ll buy his book in November — but Jeb better not try anything. I’ve moved on.

I saw Rubio oppose the bill. I know we’re going to hear how everyone is a “RINO” but truly conservative senate candidates is going to become a very lonely club if we base it on this law.

It can't be done. It can't be done. It can't be done. It can't be done. This is how 12 million foreign nationals enter a country unhindered.

It can be done, just not by anybody whose last name is Bush.

Pander, pander, pander

Legislation is often about “balancing” rights or duties. If some “innocent” people get offended, I’m sorry. I’ve been “offended” by reverse discrimination programs for decades, where’s that concern for me and others? But the same damn people who are bitching are the ones who failed to do their jobs in the first place. They sit on their asses while everyone else has to deal with the problem, then pretend to be “tolerant” etc. when someone has to step in and do their jobs for them

And that definitely includes the Bush family.

The AZ law will bring all the RINOs out of the woodwork.

McCain would be against it too if he wasn’t up for reelection.

Rush talks about the Dems stepping in a pile of dog crap if given the chance. The Repubs are no better.

Jeb’s wife is hispanic. (so was John Wayne’s last wife)

that said,

I think the real issue is the midnight border crossing with 25 people stuffed in a van.

The more I think about this, the more I realize that all of these politicians, Dem or Rep, are working from the assumption that the police and sheriffs are too stupid to put one pant leg on at a time. How insulting! Does anyone else see how ridiculous this is and how defamatory to the men and women who have been particularly selected and trained to maintain the peace and ferret out evildoers?

Who will speak up for our brave police and sheriffs if not us?

Rubio is an unfolding story. As he is a Hispanic American, I understand his concerns and even I have concerns with the police stopping people because they “look like illegals”.
Papers Please????

On the other hand, we are in a crisis situation. I think the law needs refining, not rescinding.

As for “Jeb” - he doesn’t fool me one bit.
I know where he is coming from and he shold just go back there, along with all the other damn globalist “compassionate” Bushes.

I know how his brother helped secure Obama’s re-election by his incompetence in office on so many issues. Illegal invaders is one of them.

Bush II did NOTHING to stop the avalanche of illegals pouring in here. If anything, he aided and abetted them, refused to back a law making English the official language, conspired with McCain and Ted Kennedy on amnesty for illegals, performed proskenesis before Mexican officials over border issues, and in other ways behaved totally unlike a Republican or American.

Hell will freeze over before I vote for another Damn Bush.
